Another TTM Success From Bobby Richardson

Here is a cool 1961 Topps of Bobby Richardson that I found at a recent card show. It shows Richardson during the 1960 World Series, where he was the only player on a losing team to win World Series MVP.

I had no problem paying Richardson's fee to get this card signed and into the autograph album. 

I mailed to Richardson on November 25 and got the card back, along with another Mickey Mantle religious tract and a hand-written note plugging Richardson's new film on his website on December 6, for an 11-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Terry Fox

This 1961 Topps card of Terry Fox was picked up at a show in Goldsboro (I think).  I had gotten him TTM before, but not on this card.  It had been a while since I had added a 1961 Topps to the autograph album, so I made sure to grab the card at the show.  Fox signed the card a bit funny; I would have rather he signed it across the card, instead of up the side.  Oh well.

I mailed to Fox on October 27 and got the card back on November 12 for a 16-day TAT. 

2025 National Paid Signer - Billy Williams

For my next paid signer (Billy Williams), I had a 2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary card put aside.  It was a nice card, but after discussing with Max, I opted to find a 1961 Topps of Williams to get signed instead.  With what I was paying for the signing, it made sense to find his rookie card and go ahead and get it signed. 

The card turned out nicely.  Williams was really nice, and shook my hand after he signed.  I had heard that he could be very difficult at Wrigley, but he was nice at the show.  I probably should have upgraded my signed baseball, but this 61 Topps will look awesome in the autograph album. 

TTM Success - Howie Bedell

This 1961 Topps of Howie Bedell that I picked up at a card show a while back took a while to come back signed. It finally did, and Bedell included a 1990 ProCards AAA along with my card.

Bedell (b. 1935) played in the majors in 1962 and 1968 for the Braves (Milwaukee) and Phillies.  He had 28 hits, no home runs and a .193 batting average. 

I mailed to Bedell on November 18 and got the cards back on February 23, for a 97-day TAT.

Another TTM Success From Marty Keough

Another nice vintage card hit the autograph album when I got this 1961 Topps back signed TTM from Marty Keiugh.  The card turned out great.  It was another pickup from the Virginia Beach show.

I mailed to Keough on  November 21 and got the card back on December 5, for a 14-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Ray Semproch

Another sharp 1961 Topps was added to the autograph album when I got the card back signed TTM from Ray Semproch.  The card is simple, but looks great. 

Semproch (b. 1931) played in the majors from 1958 to 1961 for the Phillies, Tigers and Angels.  He had a record of 19-21 with 156 strike outs and a 4.42 ERA.

I mailed to Semproch on November 18 and got the card back on December 2, for a 14-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Felix Mantilla

Here are some more nice vintage cards that were added to the autograph album. I picked up three of these Felix Mantilla cards at the Virginia Beach show, and the last one (the 1964 Topps) was picked up from Conrad's boxes. 

All of the cards turned out great.  I especially like the 1959 Topps.  All of of them were in great shape and didn't cost much. 

I mailed to Mantilla on November 17 and got the cards back on December 2, for a 15-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $5/card.

Another TTM Success From Danny Murphy

This 1961 Topps of Danny Murphy was picked up at the Virginia Beach card show a couple weeks ago.  I sent it off TTM and it came back signed.  Murphy also signed the back of my note.

I mailed to Murphy on November 16 and got the card back on December 1, for a 15-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Ted Bowsfield

Here's another 1961 Topps that I picked up from the Virginia Beach card show.  It was recently signed TTM by Ted Bowsfield.  The signature is a tad shaky, but looks great.

Bowsfield (b. 1935) played in the majors from 1958 to 1964 for the Red Sox, Angels, Indians and A's (Kansas City).  He had a record of 37-39 with 326 strike outs and a 4.35 ERA.

I mailed to Bowsfield on November 20 and got the card back on December 1, for a 12-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Jim Marshall

A couple weeks ago, at the Virginia Beach show, I picked up a few Jim Marshall cards to send TTM.  I jad gotten him before, back in 2020 on a 1958 Topps and my 1991 Crown Orioles card.  I wanted to add a few move vintage cards to the album, so I picked up the above 1960 Toppa, and the 1959 Topps and 1961 Topps shown below.

The cards look great. I think I got them at around $1.00, each.  That was a steal, as all three of them are in great shape.

I mailed to Marshall on November 13 and got the cards back on November 29, for a 16-day TAT.

Another TTM Success From JC Martin

Even more vintage cards were added to the autograph album when I got this TTM success back from JC Martin.  I had found this 1961 Topps at a recent show and paired it with the 1964 Topps (below) that I had found in Conrad's boxes. Both of the cards look great.

I had held onto this 64 Topps for a while since I had gotten Martin before, and I didn't want to send the card by itself.  I was holding out until I found another card to send.  I found the 61 and went ahead with the request.

I mailed to Martin on November 16 and got the cards back on November 25, for a 9-day TAT. 

2022 National Free Signer - Ron Hansen

Another former Oriole, and another player that I had gotten TTM, but was at this year's National as a free VIP signer was Ron Hansen.  I was out of his cards, or I didn't find any in time.  So, I bought enough to cover the vouchers that I ended up with.  I got this cool 1961 Post Cereals card that will look cool in the album.

I also picked up a few vintage Topps cards, a 1961, 1962 and a 1963.  All of them turned out great.  Hansen was really nice, and I was glad I got to meet him.

Update: I forgot to scan this awesome 1959 Topps that I got signed by Hansen.  It was with another of the signers cards for whatever reason.  Oh well.  Here it is, and it is a beauty.

TTM Success - Joe McClain

Here are some nice vintage cards that finally came back signed after sitting out there for a while.  This success from Joe McClain added a 1961 Topps and a 1962 Topps to my autograph album.

Both of the cards turned out nicely, and I was glad to finally get them back.  I think I got them from a card show not too long ago, and sent them off TTM.

McClain (b. 1933) played in the majors from 1961 to 1962 for the Senators.  He had a record of 8-22 with 82 strike outs and a 4.42 ERA.

I mailed to McClain on December 13 and got the cards back on March 12, for an 89-day TAT.

Last Bit of Autos From The National

As far as I know, this is the last of the stuff that I brought home from last year's National.  It only took me about 7 or 8 months to get it all posted.  There were a couple vendors at the show who had some nice, cheap cards signed by deceased former players (and one other), so I figured I would grab a few for my album.  For some reason, I never sent the above 1957 Topps to Virgil Trucks for him to sign.  Whenever I see a Trucks card, I usually pick it up, and this one was no different.

I got the Burke Waldron (above left) cards from the Signatures for Soldiers.  I wanted to send one TTM, but Waldron passed away before I could.  I also liked the Monte Ivrin 1988 Pacific, 1959 Topps Mudcat Grant and 1961 Topps Bill Virdon 1960 World Series Highlight.  These were all cards I would have liked to send out back then, but didn't get a chance (probably because I didn't have extras of said cards).

I'm hoping to signer list for the National comes out soon.  I'd like to start pulling cards for those guys as soon as possible.  The days will be flying away, and July will be here before I know it.

TTM Success - Ken Hamlin

Here are some nice vintage cards of Ken Hamlin that I picked up from a Raleigh card show a while back.  I sent them off for TTM and they came back looking great.  I really like the above 1961 Topps; it is a sharp card and looks great signed.

1962 Topps is such a great set.  I would like to build the set someday; I maybe will at some point.  Signed versions of these cards always seem to look nice, as well.

Hamlin (b. 1935) played in the majors in 1957, from 1959 to 1962 and 1965 to 1966 for the Pirates, A's (KC), Angels and Senators.  He had 323 hits, 11 home runs and a .241 batting average.

I mailed to Hamlin on September 21 and got the cards back on December 28, for a 98-day TAT.

TTM Success - Chuck Cottier

I picked up some nice vintage cards of Chuck Cottier at a recent show in Raleigh after I had seen that he signed TTM.  The above 1960 Topps turned out great, I think.  I'm pretty sure the three vintage cards I got (1960, 1961 and 1963) were in a dollar box.

Cottier was also in some 80s products, so I got his 1985 and 1986 Topps signed.

Cottier (b. 1936) played in the majors from 1959 to 1965 and 1968 to 1969 for the Braves (Milwaukee), Tigers, Senators and Angels.  He had 348 hits, 19 home runs and a .220 batting average.

He managed the Mariners from 1984 to 1986 to a record of 98-119 (.452 win %).

I mailed to Cottier on September 21 and got the cards back on September 28, for a 7-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Whitey Herzog

I thought I was done sending cards to Whitey Herzog TTM, but I had completely forgotten he had been an Oriole, and he turned up in the 1991 Crown Orioles set.  I am not working on this set, but I am trying to get some of the cards signed.  Mostly, guys that are notable and also some of the older former players who may not have many cards to begin with.

The 1991 Crown was a big reason I sent to Herzog again, but I also had gotten this awesome 1961 Topps from my friend, Neil, around Christmas time, and I had also wanted to get it in my autograph album.  This card looks great, and I am glad I sent it along.

Finally, I had this 1960 Topps in my vintage box, and figured that since I was sending the other two cards, why not find another $5 and send this one, as well.

So, for a fee of $5/card, I sent these three off to Herzog and they all look great.

I mailed to Herzog on April 20 and got the cards back on April 27, for a 7-day TAT.

TTM Success - Don Larsen

I added another really nice TTM success to my album with this success from Don Larsen.  I had two of the cards that I sent off and bought the other two off of Ebay.  The above Allen & Ginter mini was actually a National Card Show exclusive from 2008 that I got for a dollar off of EBay.  I was glad I found this, because I was really hoping I could find a card that showed the historic embrace of Larsen and Berra during the 1956 World Series perfect game.

I also found this 1961 Topps on Ebay and sent it off.  It looks really nice, and I was happy to have found it as well.

I was going to stop at the above 1962 Topps, but then I found the 2008 Donruss Threads, so I went ahead and sent that as well.

Larsen (b. 1929) played in the majors from 1953 to 1965 and 1967 for the Browns, Orioles, Yankees, A's (Kansas City), White Sox, Giants, Colt .45s, Astros and Cubs.  He had a career record of 81-91 with 849 strike outs and a 3.78 ERA.  He won the World Series with the Yankees in 1956 and 1958.  His perfect game in the 1956 World Series also earned him the MVP Award of that series.

Larsen appeared on a surprising 15 Hall of Fame ballots between 1974 and 1988.  He received a high of 12.3% of the vote (1979). 

I mailed to Larsen on November 14 and got the cards back on November 27, for a 13-day TAT.  I sent $5/card to cover his fee.

TTM Success - Eddie Bressoud

Here is one of the vintage guys I picked up while at the Greenville card show, Eddie Bressoud.  I really liked the above 1958 Topps, so I was really happy that he signed it.  I sent him 5 cards, and he signed 4.  The card he chose not to sign was a 1963 Topps.

Check out the airbrushed SF logo on Bressoud's hat.  The Giants had just moved to SF, and it looks like the Topps artist had some issues getting the logo right.

I had this 1960 Topps in my vintae box at the house, so I sent it along, too.  I like that he signed this one, as well.

Also, here are Topps cards from 1961 and 1964, both of which turned out really nicely.

Bressoud (b. 1932) played in the majors from 1956 to 1967 for the Giants (New York and San Francisco), Red Sox, Mets and Cardinals.  He had 925 hits, 94 home runs and a .252 batting average.  He was an All Star in 1964 and won the World Series with the Cardinals in 1967.

I mailed to Bressoud on October 28 and got the cards back on November 24, for a 27-day TAT.

TTM Success - Chuck Estrada

This TTM success from Chuck Estrada was another player that I was able to get using cards I picked up at the recent Greenvile card show.  I was really happy to get one of these 1960 Topps rookie stars cards signed.  It turned out pretty nicely.

I also got these cards signed by Estrada, a 1961 Topps and a 1964 Topps.  Both of them are nice cards.  I love the Topps rookie logo on the 1961.

Estrada (b. 1938) played in the majors from 1960 to 1964 and 1966 to 1967 for the Orioles, Cubs and Mets.  He had a career record of 50-44 with 535 strike outs and an ERA of 4.07.  He led the league in wins (18) in 1960, his rookie season.  He was second in the AL Rookie of the Year Award voting to Ron Hansen.  All three players receiving votes that year were Orioles (Hansen, Estrada and Jim Gentile).  Estrada was an All Star that season and also finished 12th in the AL MVP voting.

I mailed to Estrada on November 3 and got the cards back on November 13, for a 10-day TAT.
