Yet Another TTM Success From Don Larsen

Since Don Larsen signs for a fee, I don't mind having sent to him multiple times.  He always come through, and this time was no exception.  He did, however, sign the back of this Diamond Kings card.  I guess he thought it looked better that way.  Still, it's a cool card, and I am glad I was able to get him to sign it.

I mailed to Larsen on May 29 and got the card back on June 5, for a 7-day TAT.

Another TTM Success From Don Larsen

I found this 1954 Bowman rookie card of Don Larsen pretty cheaply on Ebay and figured I would send it off to have him sign it.  I didn't have any of his cards as an Oriole in my collection, so I thought it would be good to add this.

I mailed it to Larsen on March 9 and got the card back on March 20.  I paid his fee of $5.00/card.

TTM Success - Don Larsen

I added another really nice TTM success to my album with this success from Don Larsen.  I had two of the cards that I sent off and bought the other two off of Ebay.  The above Allen & Ginter mini was actually a National Card Show exclusive from 2008 that I got for a dollar off of EBay.  I was glad I found this, because I was really hoping I could find a card that showed the historic embrace of Larsen and Berra during the 1956 World Series perfect game.
I also found this 1961 Topps on Ebay and sent it off.  It looks really nice, and I was happy to have found it as well.
I was going to stop at the above 1962 Topps, but then I found the 2008 Donruss Threads, so I went ahead and sent that as well.

Larsen (b. 1929) played in the majors from 1953 to 1965 and 1967 for the Browns, Orioles, Yankees, A's (Kansas City), White Sox, Giants, Colt .45s, Astros and Cubs.  He had a career record of 81-91 with 849 strike outs and a 3.78 ERA.  He won the World Series with the Yankees in 1956 and 1958.  His perfect game in the 1956 World Series also earned him the MVP Award of that series.

Larsen appeared on a surprising 15 Hall of Fame ballots between 1974 and 1988.  He received a high of 12.3% of the vote (1979).

I mailed to Larsen on November 14 and got the cards back on November 27, for a 13-day TAT.  I sent $5/card to cover his fee.

TTM Success - Don Larsen

I received my 73rd TTM success this evening when I got home from work and saw a box in my mailbox.  I had sent a check to former pitcher, Don Larsen, on Saturday, May 18.  The check was for $50 which covered Larsen's fee to provide his own OMLB ball, a signature, inscription and shipping.  I didn't even have to prepare a return mailer (for once).

Larsen (b. 1929) played in the majors from 1953 to 1965 and 1967 for the Browns/Orioles, Yankees, A's (Kansas City), White Sox, Giants, Colt .45s, Astros and Cubs.  He had a career record of 81-91, 849 strikeouts and a 3.78 ERA.

Larsen was traded by the Orioles to the Yankees along with Bob Turley, Billy Hunter, Mike Blyzka, Darrell Johnson, Jim Fridley and Dick Kryhoski for Harry Byrd, Willy Miranda, Jim McDonald, Hal Smith, Gus Triandos and Gene Woodling in 1954.

He had his crowning achievement as a Yankee in the 1956 World Series when he threw a perfect game against the Brooklyn Dodgers in Game 5.  The Yankees would go on to win the Series 4 games to 3 and Larsen would win the World Series MVP award.

Larsen's contributions to Yankee history don't end there.  A few years later, in 1959, Larsen would be traded with Norm Siebern, Hank Bauer and Marv Throneberry to the Kansas City A's for Joe DeMaestri, Kent Hadley and a young fellow by the name of Roger Maris.

A Third Trade With Joe Average Collector

I completed another trade with Jason from the blog: Joe Average Collector when his package came in the mail yesterday.  I sent him the 2012 Bowman Chrome J. P. Arencibia blue parallel and Miles Head auto for the following cards...
I needed this 1959 Topps Brooks Robinson for my 1959 set.  I already had one in my PC, so this one was filed away into my 1959 box and removed from my needs list.
I didn't have this 1961 Post Brooks Robinson in my collection yet, so I was glad to see if in Jason's offerings.  I need to pick up some more of Brooks' oddball 1960s cards, so that may be a project I can tackle at some point, or at least give me a few things to add to the want list.
I already had one of these 1968 Topps Game cards, given to me by my good friend, Jim, but I like how these look, so I definitely wasn't adverse to adding another one to the Brooks PC.

Finally, here is a 1977 TCMA Don Larsen.  I really need to send to Larsen TTM.  That is on my to do list.  My buddy Drew keeps getting onto me for procrastinating on it, so, yeah, I need to make that happen.

Anyway, thanks for another awesome trade, Jason!  Let's lock up again for another one real soon!
