Another TTM Success From Whitey Herzog

A couple more Whitey Herzog cards were added to the autograph album after I got some 2023 Panini blasters from Taylor.  The above 2023 Panini Select is a really nice looking card, and when I pulled it, I immediately decided it should get signed.

I, then, pulled this 2023 Panini Prizm, so the pair was sent out with $10 to Herzog.  Both cards look great.

I mailed to Herzog on November 4 and got the cards back on November 27, for a 23-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Whitey Herzog

While going through some stacks of cards and preparing for the National, I was reminded that I had thos 2020 Topps Chrome Decades Best card of the 1980s Cardinals. I figured I would go ahead and send it off to Whitey Herzog and get him to sign it. The card turned out great. I'll loom for the other guys via signings soon. 

I mailed to Herzog on June 10 and got the card on June 18, for an 8-day TAT. I paid his $5 fee.

Another TTM Success From Whitey Herzog

Another card that I picked up from the most recent Raleigh card show came back signed from Hall of Famer, Whitey Herzog.  This is a 1957 Topps Herzog rookie card, and I found it for $3.00 in a bargain bin at the show.  I buy from the vendor, Kurt, all of the time, and I love a lot of the stuff he puts in there.

I have gotten Herzog several times TTM, and I was really happy to add this 1957 Topps to the autograph album.  I think 1957 is a great set, and always enjoy getting cards from this set signed.

I mailed to Herzog on December 13 and got the card back signed today (December 27), for a 14-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $5.00/card.

Multiple TTM Successes for One Card

I decided to get the three living guys who are on this 1973 Topps Rangers Manager/Coaching Staff card when I first got Jackie Moore on it.  I also needed Chuck Estrada on a 1991 Crown Orioles card, so I paired this card with that, and finally, I paid the $5 to get Whitey Herzog.  I sent to Herzog, even though I had just sent to him a few months prior, so I could get him on his own 1991 Crown Orioles card.

Chuck Hiller passed away a while back, so getting him on this card is out of the question, but I think it is cool that I was able to get the other three guys.  I did this recently with a couple team cards for my 87 set, and those should be coming up to be posted, soon.

Another TTM Success From Whitey Herzog

I thought I was done sending cards to Whitey Herzog TTM, but I had completely forgotten he had been an Oriole, and he turned up in the 1991 Crown Orioles set.  I am not working on this set, but I am trying to get some of the cards signed.  Mostly, guys that are notable and also some of the older former players who may not have many cards to begin with.

The 1991 Crown was a big reason I sent to Herzog again, but I also had gotten this awesome 1961 Topps from my friend, Neil, around Christmas time, and I had also wanted to get it in my autograph album.  This card looks great, and I am glad I sent it along.

Finally, I had this 1960 Topps in my vintage box, and figured that since I was sending the other two cards, why not find another $5 and send this one, as well.

So, for a fee of $5/card, I sent these three off to Herzog and they all look great.

I mailed to Herzog on April 20 and got the cards back on April 27, for a 7-day TAT.

TTM Success - Whitey Herzog

In my quest to add more signed cards to my 1987 set, I spent a little money to add some bigger names.  One of those was Hall of Fame manager, Whitey Herzog.  He charged $5/card, which I gladly sent along.  I went ahead and sent the above 1986 Topps so I could add another card to my album.

Here is the 1987 that I sent, and it turned out really nice.

Herzog (b. 1931) played in the majors from 1956 to 1963 for the Senators, A's (Kansas City), Orioles and Tigers.  He had 414 hits, 25 home runs and a .257 batting average. 

Herzog managed in the majors from 1973 to 1990 for the Rangers, Angels, Royals and Cardinals.  He had a career record of 1,281 - 1,125 (.532%).  He won the NL pennant three times with the Cardinals (1982, 1985 and 1987) and won the World Series in 1982.

He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2010 by the Veterans Committee.

I mailed to Herzog on September 25 and got the cards back on October 2, for a 7-day TAT.

TTM Success - Whitey Herzog

On the day a legendary manager of the St. Louis Cardinals retired, I received a signed baseball from another legendary Cardinals manager, Whitey Herzog.

Herzog got his start as a manager in 1973 with the Rangers when he managed 138 games.  He was the second manager of the Rangers when he took over for Ted Williams.  Yes, THAT Ted Williams.  He was fired as manager of the Rangers and replaced with Billy Martin.  He managed the Angels for 4 games in 1974 on an interim basis before Dick Williams was hired before being hired by the Kansas City Royals in 1975. 

With the Royals from 1975 to 1979, Herzog amassed a record of 714-410 and led those teams to three straight American League West titles from 1976 to 1978.

He joined the Cardinals in 1980 and went on to manage them until 1990.  During that time, the Cardinals won three NL pennants (1982, 1985 and 1987) and one World Series (1982).  He ended his managerial career with a record of 2409-1281 (.532 winning pct.).

Herzog is my 50th Hall of Famer and my 37th TTM Success.  I mailed to him on October 22 and got him back today, October 31, making him a 9-day TAT.  He signed for a fee of $10.00.
