TTM Success - Glenn DIshman

A couple mid-90s cards finally got out of my box when I sent this 1996 Fleer glossy and a 1995 Topps to Glenn Dishman.  I couldn't find his base Fleer from that year (the cards, with their rough finish, are cool to get signed, but are a pain to leaf through).

Both of the cards turned out nicely. I'll have to see if Rob Grable signs so I can complete the card.

Dishman (b. 1970) played in the majors from 1995 to 1997 for the Padres, Phillies and Tigers.  He had a record of 5-10 with 66 strike outs and a 5.25 ERA.

I mailed to Dishman on January 6 and got the cards back on February 3 for a 28-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Jesse Orosco

Several passes through my boxes allowed me to find a handful of Jesse Orosco cards to send to him TTM for a second time.  I got his 1980 Topps Mets Future Stars taken care of.  I know getting Mike Scott is going to be tough.  I haven't looked Dan Norman up at all yet.

I'm getting close to 100 signed 1984 Topps; this one helped me push that number higher.  I also got a 1996 Fleer and a 2000 Topps signed so I'd have some Orioles cards represented in the album. 

I mailed to Orosco on March 18 and got the cards back on April 8, for a 21-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $5.00/card.

TTM Success - Bryce Florie

A new signed 1995 Fleer was added to the autograph album when I got this TTM success back from Bryce Florie.  Again, such a weirdly fun set that looks cool when signed.  What were they thinking when they designed this set? I don't know, but it is a lot of fun.

In contrast, I also got a clean 1995 Fleer Ultra and a 1996 Fleer signed as well.  Both of these also turned out nicely. 

Florie (b. 1970) played in the majors from 1994 to 2001 for the Padres, Brewers, Tigers and Red Sox.  He had a record of 20-24, 395 strike outs and a 4.47 ERA.

I mailed to Florie on November 27 and got the cards back on January 2, for a 36-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Mark Kiefer

Look out, it's a 1995 Fleer! The wackiest set had another card added to my autograph album with this TTM success from Mark Kiefer.  Man, I love 1995 Fleer.  It is such a weird set, and definitely had grown on me over the years.  They look cool signed, as well.

The 1995 Fleer is definitely what drove me to send to Kiefer, but these other three cards also turned out nicely.  I got a 1994 Collectors Choice, 1994 Flair and a 1996 Fleer signed.  

Kiefer (b. 1968) played in the majors from 1993 to 1996 for the Brewers.  He had a record of 5-1 with 61 strike outs and a 4.29 ERA.

I mailed to Kiefer on March 1 and got the cards back on November 30, for a 274-day TAT.

TTM Success - John Wehner

Some nice early 90s cards were added to the autograph album when I got this TTM success back from John Wehner.  I had a bunch of his cards, so there were several that I could choose from to send out.  This 1993 Fleer Ultra turned out great.  I like this design, and it looks great in the album .

I also got a 1992 Topps, 1993 Topps, 1993 Fleer and a 1996 Fleer signed.

Wehner (b. 1967) played in the majors from 1991 to 2001 for the  Pirates and Marlins.  He had 200 hits, 4 home runs and a .249 batting average.  He was part of the 1997 World Series Champion Marlins, but did not play in the series.

I mailed to Wehner on November 3 and got the cards back on November 20, for a 17-day TAT. 

TTM Success - John Cummings

Here is a TTM success from John Cummings that brought back a few nice mid-90s cards for my autograph album.   The above 1996 Fleer glossy parallel turned out nicely.

I also got a 1994 Donruss and a 1993 Pinnacle signed.

Cummings (b. 1969) played in the majors from 1993 to 1997 for the Mariners, Dodgers and Tigers.  He had a record of 10-15 with 114 strike outs and a 5.33 ERA.

I mailed to Cummings on March 13 and got the cards back on March 28, for a 15-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Andy Fox

This TTM success that came back from Andy Fox had a nice variety of cards from several different card sets.  The above 1996 Score Select has a nice wood grain border, and looks pretty nice now that it is signed.

I got a 1991 Carolina League all star card signed, which was a really nice find.  Fox's 1993 ProCards minors card also was a good find in my boxes.  I rounded the submission out with a 1996 Fleer and a 2003 Topps.

Fox (b. 1971) played in the majors from 1996 to 2004 for the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Expos and Rangers.  He had 461 hits, 30 home runs and a .239 batting average.  He won the World Series with the Yankees in 1996.

I mailed to Fox on March 21, 2022, and got the cards back on January 20, 2023, for a 305-day TAT.

TTM Success - Mark Sweeney

A few cards spread out over a couple decades were added to my autograph album with this TTM success from Mark Sweeney.  The above 1996 Fleer is a cool card; it has a rough matte finish that was done to aid in autographing.  The concept later only two years, but makes for something a little different.  The cards are a pain to search through if you're in a hurry, though.

I also got a 1995 Topps, 2007 Upper Deck First Edition and 2007 Upper deck signed.  These were good cards to get out of my boxes, since I've got so many cards from these years.

Sweeney (b. 1969) played in the majors from 1995 to 2008 for the Cardinals, Padres, Reds, Brewers, Rockies, Giants and Dodgers.  He had 464 hits, 42 home runs and a .254 batting average.

I mailed to Sweeney on October 13 and got the cards back on November 21, for a 39-day TAT.

TTM Success - Roger Bailey

Here are some 90s cards that I got back signed from Roger Bailey.  The above card is a 1996 Fleer. This is one of the base cards I talked about a few posts ago. The finish is matte and the autograph shows up well.

Here is another 1992 Stadium Club and a 1998 Topps. Both turned out nicely. 

Bailey (b. 1970) played in the majors from 1995 to 1997 for the Rockies. He had a record of  18-19 with 162 strike outs and a 4.90 ERA.

I mailed to Bailey on March 24 and got the cards back on April 4, for an 11-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Tim Crabtree

Here are some 90s cards that I thought were TTM-worthy that I can now add to my album.  I like the rock wall behind Tim Crabtree in this 1992 Stadium Club.  I like a card with a nice backdrop, and this one fits the bill.  I also love the 90s-era Blue Jays hat.

This is a glossy 1996 Fleer.  These were inserts that year; the base set of Fleer was a matte finish meant for better autographing.  The cards are decent, but a pain to leaf through (the matte ones).

Crabtree (b. 1969) pitched in the majors from 1995 to 2001 for the Blue Jays and Rangers.  He had a record of 21-22 with 288 strike outs and a 4.20 ERA.

I mailed to Crabtree on March 17 and got the cards back on March 28, for an 11-day TAT.

TTM Success - Billy Ashley

Some mid-90s cards came back signed recently with this TTM success from Billy Ashley.  The above 1996 Fleer turned out great.  I liked the concept of the rougher finish on the cards, but they are a pain to leaf through; the tend to stick together and are a bit harder to separate quickly.

I also had Ashley sign a 1995 Topps and the foil counterpart, the 1995 Topps Cyberstats.  Both of these turned out nicely, as well.

Ashley (b. 1970) played in the majors from 1992 to 1998 for the Dodgers and Red Sox.  He had 144 hits, 28 home runs and a .233 batting average.

I mailed to Ashley on January 20 and got the cards back on February 11, for a 22-day TAT.

TTM Success - Bob Patterson

I added some nice junk wax cards to my autograph album when I got this TTM success from former pitcher, Bob Patterson.

I have a huge box of 1993 Fleer that I rarely get into, since it is buried at the bottom of my stack of 5,000-count boxes.  I was able to pull this Patterson and include it in my TTM request.  The card turned out really well.

Patterson has a good many Topps issues, so I sent cards from 1988, 1991, 1992 and 1993.  I really like the 1988.  I have 1993s coming out of my ears, so I was glad to get one of them out and signed.

Finally, I sent this 1996 Fleer.  These have the matte finish on the cards.  They are a pain to leaf through, but they look really cool when signed.

Patterson (b. 1959) is an ECU alum and played in the majors from 1985 to 1987 and 1989 to 1998 for the Padres, Pirates, Rangers, Angels and Cubs.  He had a career record of 39-40 with 483 strike outs and a 4.08 ERA.

I mauled to Patterson on September 23 and got the cards back on October 21, for a 28-day TAT.

TTM Success - Ryan McGuire

I finally added another 2000 Topps to my autograph album with this success from Ryan McGuire.  I had bought a box of 2000 Topps to bust a while back, so I could have some more bulk cards.  I sorted them and picked a few out of guys who signed TTM, and finally got around to mailing some of them out.

I had also found these cards of his, so I included them with the TTM request.

McGuire (b. 1971) played in the majors from 1997 to 2002 for the Expos, Mets, Marlins and Orioles.  He had 133 hits, 7 home runs and a .211 batting average.

I mailed to McGuire on January 14 and got the cards back on January 28, for a 14-day TAT.

TTM Success - Xavier Hernandez

This was a nice change in TTM pace with this success from Xavier Hernandez.  I definitely don't mind getting 1987s in, but I got some cool 1990s cards in with this success.  The above 1995 Fleer was a really cool card to get signed.  Again, like I have said so many times, this is such a freaky set.  It's like the printing machine went nuts and Fleer just stuck with whatever came out.  I love the card, though, and it was an easy pick to send along.

As nuts as 1995 Fleer is, 1996 Fleer is basic and straightforward.  The matte finish lends to a nice auto, so I had to send this one along as well.

In the end, I sent two Fleer, two Donruss and two Topps to get signed.  They all look great, I think.  I'm glad I tossed the 1991 Donruss in, as I had a ton of them when I was growing up, and not enough represented in my album.

Hernandez (b. 1965) played in the majors from 1989 to 1998 for the Blue Jays, Astros, Yankees, Reds and Rangers.  He had a career record of 40-35, 562 strike outs and an ERA of 3.90.

I mailed to Hernandez on September 28 and got the cards back on October 23, for a 25-day TAT.

TTM Success - Marc Valdes

I held onto these Marc Valdes cards for a long time before I finally got around to sending off to him via the St. Lucie Mets.  I had a bunch of guys who coached in the minors set aside, and finally got around to clearing out a bunch of them recently.  Funny thing is, a lot of them came back at the same time.

This Classic Best is the card that I really wanted to see signed, but the scan didn't turn out all too well.  This is very similar to Chrome, except that the card is a lot thinner.  I powdered it, and the signature turned out really well.

I thought it was funny that I was able to get three different Topps years of prospects cards with Valdes on them.  This is a 1996, a very rare set in my binder.

I also had his 1994 and 1995 Topps cards.  I didn't even realize until just now that the 1994 is a Topps Gold parallel.  I need to take it off of my ledger for 1994 Topps, since I don't count gold parallels (or any parallels) toward the number I have of each set.  I guess I need to remember that for when I get home.

Valdes (b. 1971) played in the majors from 1995 to 1998, 2000 and 2001 for the Marlins, Expos, Astros and Braves.  He had a career record of 12-15 with 135 strike outs and a 4.95 ERA.  He was a first round pick by the Marlins in 1993 (27th overall).

I mailed to Valdes via the St. Lucie Mets on May 8 and got the cards back on May 22, for a 14-day TAT.

TTM Success - Rich Becker

Rich Becker is another player that sat in my TTM box for a long time before I mailed his cards out.  The good thing about that is, I was able to compile a bunch of cool cards to send for signature, like the above 1995 Score Gold Rush.  I always liked the mid-90s Score, and this one looks really cool when signed.

The best card of the bunch, though, is this 1997 Upper Deck SP.  These really look nice, and I have maybe 4 or 5 from that set signed now.  The scan doesn't really capture how cool the card is, but take my word for it, it is pretty nice in person.

I also had these four cards, highlighted by the 1995 Fleer.  Those are still some funky cards to get signed, but signatures really look good on them.  The 1996 Fleer (top left) turned out nice, as always is the case with that set.

Becker (b. 1972) played in the majors from 1993 to 2000 for the Twins, Mets, Orioles, Brewers, A's and Tigers.  He had 570 hits, 45 home runs and a .256 batting average.  His time as an Oriole was brief; he was selected off of waivers from the Mets by the Orioles in June of 1998 and was released by the Orioles in December of that same year.

I mailed to him on February 27 and got the cards back on May 2, for a 64-day TAT.

TTM Success - Ozzie Timmons

I received a TTM success from a player that I remember watching at Winston-Salem's Ernie Shore Field back when I was a kid.  Ozzie Timmons played in 86 games for the Winston-Salem Spirits in 1992.  That was back when my mom would take us to the field to watch the Frederick Keys.  My grandfather would also take us to a few Spirits games, as well, but I believe that was a couple seasons before.

Timmons (b. 1970) played in the majors from 1995 to 1997 and 1999 to 2000 for the Cubs, Mariners and Devil Rays.  He had 95 hits, 20 home runs and a .235 batting average.

I mailed to Timmons via the Durham Bulls (he is their hitting coach) on April 5 and got the cards back on April 15, for a 10-day TAT.

TTM Success - Todd Jones

I was able to add a few more recent cards to my autograph album with this success from former pitcher, Todd Jones.  The above 2008 Topps was a nice one to get, since it is a horizontal card.  I didn't mind these cards when they came out, but the over-sized border does take away from the photo, somewhat.

I got a few really nice cards in the success, starting with the celebratory pose on the 2000 chrome Stadium Club.  It didn't scan all tha great, but it looks better in person.  The baby powder really helped that card out.  The 2001 Topps Heritage turned out really nice, as well.  The other two cards are a 1996 Fleer and a 1992 Upper Deck Minors.  I always enjoy the 1996 and 1997 Fleer, due to their Matte finish.

I also added this nice 2002 Topps.  I didn't have a whole lot of these in the album, so anything additional is a bonus.

Jones (b. 1968) played in the majors from 1993 to 2008 for the Astros, Tigers, Twins, Rockies, Red Sox, Reds, Phillies and Marlins.  He had a career record of 58-63 with 868 strike outs and a 3.97 ERA.  His 319 saves rank 19th all-time.  He was an All Star in 2000 and finished 5th in the AL Cy Young Award voting, his only appearance on that ballot.  He was on the 2014 Hall of Fame ballot, but didn't receive any votes.

I mailed to Jones on February 27 and got the cards back on April 10, for a 42-day TAT.

TTM Success - John Wasdin

I added some cards with this TTM success that I don't really recall opening, mainly because they came out when I was out of collecting.  Luckily, there are a few boxes of cards at the shop that have a bunch of various cards and sets from that time period.  I have searched those boxes a bunch of times, and have come away with a bunch of potential TTM subjects that I think will look cool in my album.

The above 1994 UD Minors John Wasdin was the highlight of this TTM success.  The card is just really cool-looking, and pops nicely in the scan.

This 1996 Score Certified really could have been the highlight of the TTM success, but not even baby powdering this card could help the signature stay better.  The card is made of a pretty slick foil, and looks a lot better in person.

These two are pretty basic cards.  I got the 1996 Fleer out of my box break with my son, Chris.  The 1996 Topps was floating around some of my boxes.  I have very few 1996 Topps, so any one of them that I can get back signed, I have been sending out.  I need to find some more, but at the moment, I don't have many options.

Finally, I really liked the look of this 1996 Donruss.  This was the year when I got out of cards for a while, and I have very little 1996 anything.  I don't think I opened any 1996 Donruss, so adding this to the album will be really nice.

Wasdin (b. 1972) played in the majors from 1995 to 2001 and 2003 to 2007 for the A's, Red Sox, Rockies, Orioles, Rangers and Pirates.  He had a career record of 39-39 with an ERA of 5.28 and 527 strike outs.  He signed as the Orioles as Minor League Pitching Coordinator this offseason, taking over for Rick Peterson who left the organization.

I mailed to Wasdin at Orioles Spring Training on February 9 and got the cards back on February 27, for an 18-day TAT.

TTM Success - Andy Ashby

This was a pretty nice success from former pitcher, Andy Ashby.  I saw that he signed, so I grabbed a few cards of him and sent them along.   He wasn't someone who signed a lot of cards, so I sent four cards and hoped for the best.  I got two of the cards back signed, and they turned out really well.  I can't complain at all.  The above 1994 Finest turned out great, as everything I send out like Chrome and Finest, gets the baby powder treatment and it really works wonders.  I really like this set and want to add a few more to the album.

I also really enjoy 1996 Fleer.  Chris and I busted a box of it, and I was able to get a few of them signed.  This one really looks nice, and even better in person.  I need to go through the others that I have and get a few more ready to send out.

Ashby (b. 1967) played in the majors from 1991 to 2004 for the Phillies, Padres, Braves and Dodgers.  He had a career record of 98-110 with an ERA of 4.12 and 1,173 strike outs.  He was an All Star in 1998 and 1999 while with the Padres.

I mailed to Ashby on November 9 and got the cards back on February 21, for a 104-day TAT.
