Here is a late 70s/early 80s TTM success from Bill Almon. The above 1979 Topps is a really good shot of the old Padres jersey. This is one of the things I like about doing TTMs of older cards. You get some interesting photos, uniforms and hairstyles. This 1979 Topps is a great example.
Here are the four other Topps cards I sent off. Check out the collar on the 1981 Topps. That is a real "funky" card. The 1983 Topps shows one of the ugliest uniforms, in my opinion. The 1977 Topps is a nice rookie card to get signed, even though I doubt I will go after the other players on the card. Finally, you can't go wrong with a 1987 Topps, so I was happy to add this to the album.
I also was able to add two older Donruss cards to the collection with the 1983 and 1986 versions that Almon signed for me.
Almon (b. 1952) played in the majors from 1974 to 1988 for the Padres, Expos, Mets, White Sox, A's, Pirates and Phillies. He had 846 hits, 36 home runs and a .254 batting average. He finished 19th in the 1981 AL MVP voting.
I mailed to Almon on December 3 and got the cards back on December 12, for a 9-day TAT.
