Another TTM Success From Andre Dawson

A couple Andre Dawson cards were added to the autograph album when these two cards came back signed TTM.  The above 1993 Upper Deck was found at a card show in Richmond. I like these Upper Deck checklists, and it looks really cool signed.

I had this 1993 Flair put aside for quite some time.  I'm glad I sent it out, as well, because it looks awesome. 

I mailed to Dawson on October 30 and got the cards back on November 7, for an 8-day TAT. I paid his fee of $10/card.

TTM Success - Scott Fletcher

Here are some 90s cards that I got back signed from Scott Fletcher.  I really like the design of the above 1990 Topps Big, but the autograph smudged.  Oh well. It still looks cool.

I also got a 1990 Topps, 1992 Flair, 1994 Finest and 1994 Score signed.  All of them look great.  The Finest is cool.  I like the mid 90s Finest cards and have been able to get a few signed.

Fletcher (b. 1958) played in the majors from 1981 to 1995 for the Cubs, White Sox, Rangers, Brewers, Red Sox and Tigers.  He had 1,376 hits, 34 home runs and a .262 batting average. He finished 17th in the 1986 AL MVP voting.  

I mailed to Fletcher on November 6 and got the cards back on January 22, for a 77-day TAT.

TTM Success - Jim Gott

Some late 80s to mid-90s cards were added to my autograph album with this TTM success from pitcher, Jim Gott.  I had held his cards in my "to be TTMed" box for a while, then finally got them in the mail.  I was glad to get the above 1994 Score Gold Rush card signed.  I have a ton of 1994 Score, but that box is at the bottom of my stack of boxes.  I should get in there sometime soon and pull some cards.

I got a coupld cards signed out of Gott's Topps run, a 1989 and a 1994.  I also had a really nice 1993 Flair.  Flair is such a nice set; I always enjoy getting those signed.  Finally, I had a 1994 Topps Finest, which also turned out great.

Gott (b. 1959) played in the majors from 1982 to 1995 for the Blue Jays, Giants, Pirates and Dodgers.  He had a record of 56-74 with 837 strike outs and a 3.87 ERA.

I mailed to Gott on May 21 and got the cards back on September 11, for a 113-day TAT.

TTM Success - Bill Spiers

Here are a bunch of Bill Spiers cards that I was able to get signed TTM after waiting quite a while for them to come in. 

I really like this 1990 Score. I used to have a bunch of these, but I don't have nearly as many years anymore.

Spiers also signed a 1993 Flair, 1993 Fleer, 2000 Topps and a 2001 Topps.

Spiers (b. 1966) played in the majors from 1989 to 2001 for the Brewers, Mets and Astros.  He had 922 hits, 37 home runs and a .271 batting average. 

I mailed to Spiers on October 8, 2019 and got the cards back on January 23, 2021, for a 473-day TAT.

TTM Success - Lance Johnson

I waited a long time for these to come in, but the long wait paid off when I got these nice cards in TTM from Lance Johnson.  I had gotten most of these cards from the former Greenville card shop a while back, and they all turned out really well.  I like the above 1997 Upper Deck SP.  I remember when I mailed these off, I was hoping this one would get signed, especially.  He signed everything I sent, which was nice.

I had also included a 1997 Topps Stars, 1997 Topps, 2997 Donruss Preferred, 1993 Flair and a 1996 Topps Finest.

Johnson (b. 1963) played in the majors from 1987 to 2000 for the Cardinals, White Sox, Mets, Cubs and Yankees.  He had 1,565 hits, 34 home runs and a .291 batting average.  He led the league in hits twice (1995 and 1996) and in triples 5 times (1991 to 1994 and 1996).  He was an All Star in 1996 and his best (and only) finish in the MVP voting was also that season, 18th (NL).

I mailed to Johnson on November 9, 2016, and got the cards back on January 16, 2021, for a 1,529-day TAT.  He also included someone named Ethan's letter and answered his questions.  Maybe one of these days, I'll find out who this Ethan guy is, and can get him his letter back.

TTM Success - Damion Easley

So, this one definitely took a while.  I had forgotten about all of the cool cards that I sent TTM to Damion Easley, so when this one finally made its way back to me, I was really excited to see the cards that fell out of the envelope.

I actually robbed this 1994 Pinnacle from a set my mom had started to put together back in 1994.  She gave me the album at one point, and I saw this Easley in there when I was just about to send to him.  I'm actually glad I pulled from the set, because this card looks spectacular, and will be a really cool addition to my autograph album.  Thanks Mom!

I also got a Pacific Crown Royale signed (top, crown shaped card) which looks pretty cool.  The 1993 Flair beneath it also is very sharp.

I love the old 1994 Finest design (left).  It turned out great.  I also added a 1998 Topps because I love the dirt shot of the card.  Those are some nice shots on cards, when you get a good portion of the card taken up by the dirt.  Those have always been some of my favorites.

Easley (b. 1969) played in the majors from 1992 to 2008 for the Angels, Tigers, Devil Rays, Marlins, Diamondbacks and Mets.  He had 1,386 hits, 163 home runs and a .253 batting average.  He was an All Star in 1998, and was also a Silver Slugger Award winner that season.

I mailed to Easley on February 13, 2017 and got the cards back on October 31, 2019, for a 990-day TAT.

TTM Success - Roberto Hernandez

I was really excited about this TTM success from Roberto Hernandez right when it came in.  It had some really cool cards included, which turned out really well.  The success was highlighted by this really cool 1997 Stadium Club Matrix card.  The scan turned out pretty nice, but the card looks amazing in person.

This 1997 Fleer Metal card is equally as impressive.  The scan didn't quite capture the signature, but it looks so cool, trust me.

It is hard to tell but the 1994 Upper Deck (top left) is an Electric Diamond, Upper Deck's answer to Topps Gold that year.  I also added a 1997 Upper Deck SP and two Topps base (1994 and 1995).

Finally, this 1993 Flair turned out really well.  It, along with the Stadium Club Martrix, was treated with baby powder before I mailed the cards away.  The baby powder technique works so well on Flair cards.  I have had a couple Chrome cards come back that still bubbled some, but over all, the power seems to be doing the trick.

Hernandez (b. 1964) played in the majors from 1991 to 2007 for the White Sox, Giants, Devil Rays, Royals, Braves, Phillies, Mets, Pirates, Indians and Dodgers.  He had a career record of 67-71 with 945 strike outs and a 3.45 ERA.  He had 326 saves in his career (16th All-Time).  He appeared on the 2013 Hall of Fame ballot, but didn't receive any votes.  His best finish in the Cy Young voting was 6th (1996 AL) and was a 2-time All Star (1996 and 1999).

I mailed ot Hernandez on February 27 and got the cards back on March 9, for a 10-day TAT.

TTM Success - Bobby Witt

I have gotten some really cool cards signed TTM since I started sending cards last year, but I seem to always amaze myself with some of the successes that have come in.  This success from Bobby Witt was a really good one, topped with the above 1994 Topps Finest.  This card looks awesome in person, Witt's A's jersey really matched well with the borders of the card.  I was really happy to get this one back.  The card was treated with an eraser prior to sending out for signature.

I had a bunch of Witt cards to choose from, so I picked the 1986 Topps Traded and the 1989 to represent some Topps series.

I also had to go with a 1993 Flair; you can never go wrong with getting those signed.  I also had this 1997 Pacific, which there aren't many of in my album.

Witt (b. 1964) played in the majors from 1986 to 2001 for the Rangers, A's, Marlins, Cardinals, Devil Rays, Indians and Diamondbacks.  He had a career record of 142-157 with an ERA of 4.83 and 1,955 strike outs.  He won the World Series with the Diamondbacks in 2001.

I mailed to Witt on November 9 and got the cards back on December 30, for a 51-day TAT.

TTM Success - Scott Livingstone

Here is another player that I had a ton of cards of that I finally was able to send out.  The return is really great, starting with this 1993 Flair of Scott Livingstone.  This card looks awesome, especially in person.  I'm a big fan of sending these out, and am really glad this one came back looking the way it does.  Just a really sharp card.

I got two Topps cards from the success, a 1992 and 1993.  Both turned out great.  I liked the rookie cup logo on the 1993 Topps.

Finally, here are a couple other cards I sent, a 1992 Fleer and a 1995 Stadium Club.  I was surprised that I didn't have hardly any 1992 Fleer in my album, so this card will take care of that omission.

Livingstone (b. 1965) played in the majors from 1991 to 1998 for the Tigers, Padres, Cardinals and Expos.  He had 431 hits, 17 home runs and a .281 batting average.

I mailed to Livingstone on November 23 and got the cards back on December 9, for a 16-day TAT.

TTM Success - Jack McDowell

I opened up my mailbox a few days ago and was happy to see one of my envelopes in there from a TTM.  I haven't gotten nearly as many as I had earlier in the year.  This, however, has been by design.  I have learned that TTMs are a great winter hobby that can keep me busy while waiting for the season to start.  I have sent out a few this past week, just to get a few things off of my desk.

This return from Jack McDowell has reignited my interest in TTMs, though, because the cards I got back all turned out great.  The top card from 1994 Fleer Ultra looks great, as does the above 1988 Topps Traded.  The below 1993 Flair is from one of my favorite brands to get signed.  Also, I really like the mid-to-late 1990s Fleer because of the matte finish.  Autos really show up nicely on those as well.

McDowell (b. 1966) played in the majors from 1987, 1988 and 1990 to 1999 for the White Sox, Yankees, Indians and Angels.  He had a career record of 127-87 with an ERA of 3.85 and 1,311 strike outs.  His best season was 1993 when he went 22-10 with a 3.37 ERA on his way to the Cy Young Award that season.  He also won 20 games in 1992 *and finished second in the Cy Young voting).  McDowell was also a three-time All Star.  He appeared on the 2005 Hall of Fame ballot and received 0.8% of the vote.

I mailed the four cards to McDowell on March 4 and got the cards back on September 24 for a 204-day TAT.

TTM Success - Doug Jones

I got back one of the best TTM successes in a while when I received 7 signed cards from former pitcher, Doug Jones.  When I started doing TTMs and was looking for guys to send to, I saw that Jones signed.  So, I had to get a copy of this 1991 Score Dream Team to send along with whatever else I could find.  I actually bought two of these and sent one to my good friend, Andrew.  I am so glad I got this back because it looks awesome signed.

Here are the other cards I got signed by Jones.  The 1993 Flair turned out great.  Those cards really are some nice offerings from the mid-90s.  They look even better signed.  I was able to add a couple cards of Jones as an Oriole, so that was nice as well.  The top left card is an extra that he threw in and has a religious testimonial on the back.  He inscribed each card with "PTL" which means "Praise the Lord".  I thought this was a nice touch.

Jones (b. 1957) played in the majors from 1982 and 1986 to 2000 for the Brewers, Indians, Astros, Phillies, Orioles, Cubs and A's.  He had a career record of 69-79 with an ERA of 3.30 and 909 strike outs.  He also had 303 saves in his career.  Jones was an All Star five times and finished as high as 14th in the MVP voting (NL, 1992).  He appeared on the 2006 Hall of Fame ballot and received 0.4% of the vote.

I mailed to Jones on March 11 and got the cards back on June 9, for a 90-day TAT.

TTM Success - Joe Carter

I got a TTM success on March 15 from 1993 World Series hero, Joe Carter.  I mailed three cards to Carter on March 4 with a check for $5.00 and got only one of them signed.  Carter returned the other two.  I'm not really upset, but it would have been nice if he had signed all three for that fee, but I get it.  Different players sign for different rates.

The signature looks great.  The cards I sent were a 1994 Score Season Highlights card showing his historic home run in the 1993 Series, a 1989 Topps and this 1993 Flair.  I imagine that Carter has seen a ton of the 94 Score, so he chose this one to sign instead.  It is definitely a good decision, because the card looks great.

Carter (b. 1960) played in the majors from 1983 to 1998 for the Indians, Padres, Blue Jays, Orioles and Giants.  He had a very successful career where he had 2,184 hits, 396 home runs and a .259 lifetime batting average.  He finished as high as 3rd in the AL MVP voting (1992), he received MVP votes in 8 seasons, was a 5-time All Star and 2-time Silver Slugger.

Carter won the World Series in 1992 and 1993 with the Blue Jays.

I sent to him on March 4 and got my card back signed with a $5.00 fee (one signature per $5.00 request) and a 11-day TAT.
