Another TTM Success From Phil Regan

After a long wait, these cards came in from former Orioles manager, Phil Regan. It was funny, though, that two other requests to him that I sent after these cards came back quickly, with no problem. I guess this TTM request fell between the seats.
I had these two Topps cards that I sent along, a 1965 and a 1966 Topps. He also signed a Pacific Orioles logo card (top) and a blank 1991 Crown Orioles card.
I was really surprised to get these back, as I had thought that they jad been lost a long time ago.

I mailed to Regan via the Mets on June 21, 2019, and got the cards back on February 17, 2026, for a 2,433-day TAT, easily the longest wait I have had.

Another 87 Team Leaders Card Complete Via TTM

My quest to complete the signed 1987 Topps set has been a tough task.  Originally, I was ok with just getting ink on every card; not necessarily getting every single autograph possible.  It sounds like a cop-out, but some of the team leaders cards are going to be near impossible to finish.  I've talked with Mike Valic, a guy who actually has completed the set, and the team leaders cards represent the toughest of the tough projects to take on inside the set itself.  For example, the White Sox leaders card has the deceased Eddie Brinkman; Reds has Bo Diaz, Red Sox has John McNamara and Tom Seaver.  All of those, I'll have to find with signatures of the deceased folks, and also probably will have to find a way to ass the living guys on the cards (I have a Red Sox one with Rich Gedman; Reds with Pete Rose, etc).

However, I have been able to complete a few of the team leaders cards, and the Mariners version was just completed with two different TTM successes in the last few months, Phil Regan and Bob Kearney.  I had already gotten Matt Young on the card a few years ago, then when Regan was signing recently, I sent off to him.  Kearney was last, and now the card is complete.  It feels good to get these done and put away in the album for good.

TTM Success - Phil Regan

I had sent to him once before, when he was the pitching coach of the Mets, but those cards never came back.  Finally, I used my Harvey book, and got two cards signed by former pitcher, Phil Regan.

The other card will be shown later, as it was a 1987 Topps Mariners leaders card.  The above 1972 Topps card turned out really nicely, though.

Regan (b. 1937) played in the majors from 1960 to 1972 for the Tigers, Dodgers, Cubs and White Sox.  He had a career record of 96-81 with 743 strike outs and a 3.84 ERA.  He was an All Star in 1966 when he went 14-1 with a 1.62 ERA and 21 saves over 65 games.  His best MVP finish was was that season, when he finished 7th in the NL MVP race.

Regan managed the Orioles in 1995 to a 71-73 record (.493win %).

I mailed to Regan on July 17 and got the cards back signed on July 25, for an 8-day TAT.
