TTM Success - Jayson Werth

Last night, I showed a TTM success from his father; tonight i show a TTM success from Jayson Werth. I signed up for a private signing on SCN for Werth, so I could get one of my older Orioles Bowmans out of my box. This 1998 Bowman Chrome turned out nicely. It was coincidence that both Werth successes came in on the same day.

Werth (b. 1979) played in the majors from 2002 to 2005 and 2007 to 2017 for the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Phillies and Nationals. He had 1,465 hits, 229 home runs and a .267 betting average. He was an All Star in 2009 and his best MVP finish was 8th (2010, NL). He won the World Series in 2008 with the Phillies. He appeared on the 2023 Hall of Fame ballot, but received no votes.

I mailed to the signing on October 21 and got the card back on February 24, for a 126-day TAT.

TTM Success - Dick Schofield

I had gone through my vintage Topps box a while back and saw that I had two Dick Schofield cards that could be sent TTM.  The above 1960 was (and is) pretty beat up, so I knew I wouldn't be holding that for my set.  It turned out to be a pretty nice card.  I was glad that Schofield inscribed it with the 1960 WS Champs inscription.

This 1963 wasn't as beat up, but it still was a little rough.  I'm glad to be able to do something with the cards, even though they aren't "mint" by any means.  Some folks still don't understand that you can enjoy a card, even though it isn't pack fresh.

Finally, I was able to get this 1985 Topps Father/Son card signed.  The younger Schofield doesn't sign much, apparently, so I will probably refrain from sending it out.  It still looks nice.

Schofield (b. 1935) played in the majors from 1953 to 1971 for the Cardinals, Pirates, Giants, Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and Brewers. He had 699 hits, 21 home runs and a .227 batting average.  He won the World Series with the Pirates in 1960.  Not only did his son have a lengthy career in MLB, but his grandson also has been in the majors for a long time.  His grandson is Nationals outfielder, Jayson Werth.

I mailed to Schofield on November 11 and got the cards back on November 25, for a 14-day TAT.

Set Needs in the Mail From the Junior Junkie

I got a nice surprise package not too long ago from TJ, the Junior Junkie that had a good bit of set needs that he had seen on my wishlist.

In the package were 1 - 1959 Topps card; 3 - 1969 Topps cards and 4 - 2013 Topps Emerald parallels.

It was really awesome of TJ to randomly hook me up.  I have a stack of Griffeys that I will be sending his way shortly.

A Few More Cards From the Card Shop

I didn't have any mail when I got home from work, which is never how I want to end my day.  I guess I can't complain.  I do have 7 baseballs still out for TTMs, though, so I wish they would get here.  Anyway, Last Sunday, I went to my local card shop to get some supplies and left there with a couple packs of cards.  I didn't have any huge hits, but I did get a couple cards of note.

Out of a pack of Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects (I think), I pulled this Brian Matusz.  Not too bad.  I would have rather pulled the Dylan Bundy, but oh well, at least I got an Oriole.

I bought two packs of 2011 Topps Lineage and got this 1975 mini of Duke Snider.  That same pack also had a mini relic of Jayson Werth.

I'm not a fan of Werth, so this card is definitely up for trade.  If anyone is interested, please send me an email.  I'll go ahead and add this to the for sale/trade page.
