TTM Success - Chip Lohmiller

This 1993 Action Packed ABC's Monday Night Football card of Chip Lohmiller is a pretty cool card that Jesse found in a box at a card show. He was with me and told me that Lohmiller signed TTM, so I figured it would look cool in my autograph album. I was right.

Lohmiller (b. 1966) played professionally from 1988 to 1996 for the Redskins, Saints and Rams. He made 204 field goals with a 71.8% success rate. He won Super Bowl XXVI with the Redskins.

I mailed to Lohmiller on December 24 and got the card back on January 2, for a 9-day TAT.

2024 National Free Signer - Gus Frerotte

Former quarterback, Gus Frerotte, was another of the free signers at the National this year. I had picked up a card of his, but had a couple extra autograph vouchers, so I also picked up a couple throwback Redskins mini helmets to get signed.

I gave one of the helmets to Jesse for his birthday and hung onto this one.  I could maybe sell it, but I do like the throwback logo.

Frerotte (b. 1971) played professionally from 1994 to 2008 for the Redskins, Lions, Broncos, Bengals, Vikings, Dolphins and Rams.  He 21,291 passing yards and 114 touchdowns with a QB record of 45-47-1.  He played his college career at Tulsa.

Frerotte was the first of several non-baseball free signers that I met at this year's show.  I went ahead and picked up cards of most of the guys who were signing so I'd have plenty of stuff to blog for a while.

TTM Success - Chris Hanburger

Here is a cool vintage football card that I picked up at the LCS in Winston-Salem while I was up there last week.  I got this 1969 Topps football card of Chris Hanburger because Jesse told me that I'd be able to get it signed TTM.  It came back looking great!

Hanburger  (b. 1941) played professionally from 1965 to 1978 for the Redskins.  He was a linebacker his whole career and had 19 interceptions and 2 touchdowns.  He made the Pro Bowl 9 times and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

I mailed to Hanburger on May 6 and got the card back on May 13, for a 7-day TAT.

2022 National Free Signer - Mike Nelms

Now that I am breaking down all of the free signers at this year's National, I've realized that there were a lot of signers.  Usually, I skip the non-baseball guys, but I think this year, I got at least one card signed by all of them except for the football guy at the VIP party (I forgot his name already).

There was a vendor right near the bathrooms at the show who had a display board with cards of most of the free signers for $5.00/card.  Some (most) of those were a gross overpay, but in the end, my time was valuable, and it saved me from spending hours at dime boxes looking for random folks.  So, I purchased a few of the guy's cards, like these of Mike Nelms.  The card above is a 1983 Topps.
I also found his 1981 Topps and a 1990 ProSet.  All of the cards turned out great and are a little something different in my album.

Nelms (b. 1955) played in the NFL from 1980 to 1984 for the Redskins.  He was a 3-time Pro Bowler (1980, 1981 and 1982) and an All Pro in 1983.  He won the Super Bowl with the Redskins in 1983 (1982 season) when the Redskins defeated the Dolphins.

2022 National Free Signer - Mark Moseley

There were a few football players who were free signers at this year's National.  I had a card for one of them; the rest, I had to buy cards.  I ended up finding 4 of the same card for Mark Moseley, that covered the 4 vouchers I ended up with for him.  The cards I found were all his rookie card, 1971 Topps.  The cards turned out great, and I will send off the other 3 in some future care packages.

Moseley (b. 1948) played pro football from 1970 to 1986 with the Eagles, Oilers, Redskins and Browns.  He was the league MVP in 1982 when he made 95.2% of his field goals that season.  He also won the Super Bowl that season, with the Redskins.

TTM Success - Curt Knight

Another card from my vintage football box from Max came back signed TTM recently.  This is a 1972 Topps Curt Knight and it turned out nicely.  The Redskins are now a thing of the past, and I as glad to add one to my autograph album.  I like adding defunct ream names and logos in my album.

Knight (b. 1943) played professionally 1969 to 1973 for the Redskins.  He was a Pro Bowler in 1971.  He scored 101 field goals of 175 attempted, for 57.7% success.  His career long was 52 yards.

I mailed to Knight on January 15 and got the card back on February 16, for a 32-day TAT.
