Trading With Scott

I completed a trade this past week with a guy I met at the last card show named Scott.  We have been talking ever since the show about working out a deal.  He is a big Red Sox fan, so I went through my stuff and found some cards I thought he would like.  Here are some highlights of the package he sent my way:

I already had this 2009 Topps Nolan Reimold RC, but when I saw that he had it and would give it up for some Red Sox base card, I went ahead and claimed it.  You can't go wrong with Reimold for me, since he is one of my favorite current players.
Scott read my blog and saw that he had a 2010 Allen and Ginter that I needed.  Turns out, it was card #277, Regis Philbin.
He included this sweet Adam Jones relic from Upper Deck Sweet Spot.  I think of all of the Upper Deck products, I miss Sweet Spot the most.
Scott figured out pretty quickly that the best way to impress me, is to do something nice for my son.  He included a couple Tim Lincecum cards for Chris' collection.  I have to check, but I'm pretty sure that Chris didn't have either card.  He was really happy to get a couple cards in the mail.
Finally, here is this die cut Nick Markakis from Upper Deck X.  I think Upper Deck missed the mark on this set; it kind of looked like, at the time, that it was rushed.  Of course, a lot of what Upper Deck did in those final years was questionable, but this is actually a very sharp looking card.

I'm really glad Scott and I were able to come together on a trade.  I actually have 2 more trades in the works.  I mailed off packages yesterday to Dodgerbobble and Eutaw Street Cardboard, so I'm hoping I have some stuff to post (along with some hopeful TTM requests) this coming week leading up to Fan Fest.

Thanks for the Trade Scott!  I hope we can come together on another trade really soon!

A Few More Hits From The Card Show

I did get some cards other than Virgil Trucks at the show. I had hoped I could grab another Bowman Feller, but I didn't have a lot to spend, and I figured with his recent passing, several of the dealers may have had Fellers going at a premium, so I tried to avoid his stuff at this show. Instead, I got a few random cards. Here they are:
I needed a George Kell card to go with the autographed baseball I picked up last month. I like the 1951 Bowmans, so I knew when I saw this one, that it would fit nicely into my collection.

Because Topps likes to mock their set builders, I picked up this 2010 Topps 'card number 661' Stephen Strasburg by trading the guy in the neighboring booth a Matt Cain auto from UD Masterpieces. I think it was Masterpieces, or Artifacts. Oh well, tells you how much I remembered having it in my colleciton. I was able to file thie Strasburg into my 2010 set, so maybe I can call it complete again. Or should I wait until they issue card number 662: Ken Griffey, IV. Hmmm.

Finally, I traded my booth-neighbor a handful of 4/$1.00 cards for this Sweet Spot Brian Burres Mini Helmet Auto. Burres was non tendered by the O's some time ago, but the card still looks sharp. I love the mini helmet idea.
So, there you have it, I got several Virgil Trucks cards, a mini helmet auto, 3 1948 Bowmans, a Stephen Strasburg and a vintage Bowman of a Hall of Famer. Not too shabby. I have one more thing I got from the show that I will post later, nothing momentous, but I will have to wait to get the box out of my car, and seriously guys... it's cold outside, and I'm lazy. So, maybe tomorrow, ok? Haha! Hope you have enjoyed!

...I don't wanna come back down from this cloud...

There isn't a whole lot I can post now that will measure up to the awesomeness of my previous post. I still can't believe it, I actually did meet Brooks. WOW. Still hasn't hit me. Anyway, a nice productive week, in more ways than one. I met Brooks on Monday, got an offer on my house Wednesday night, negotioated and accepted the offer on Friday, had a Yu Gi Oh PreRelease at the shop on Saturday, met up and went to dinner with my best friend in the world today... very very productive week. Oh, I also opened a few packs and got a little mail... Here are the highlights... Effing wow to this one... 4 pc jersys, Ken Griffey Jr the 5th (inside joke there), some guy named Derek Jeter (never heard of him), Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols. Pretty dang good pull, if i do say so myself.
Next up is a little bit of mail from Sportlots. Yay to sportlots. I have a good bit of stuff coming from them over the next few days, so hopefully more blog updates to come...
F Yeah, a NICK THE STICK jersey. Always a good pull for me. Stick is awesome and will continue to be for the Orioles for a long time.
Thanks to Jim, one of my favorite people to watch a game with, I got a 1970 Topps Pagan to knock another high number off my set. Im slowly chipping away at this set, as well as my 55 set. Soon, though, they will be complete and I will move on to 1959!!! Yaaay.

Finally, pulled a by the letter Chris Volstad from 2009 SP Authentic. I like the teal from the Marlins and this card shows up so nice on the scan. What do you guys think?
Finally, in some personal news, we have signed the contract on selling the house, so soon, my finances will have recovered and we will be able to have some cards flowing through here!!! Im so excited! In celebration, I am going to make a purchase off ebay and will share with you all shortly... Thanks for reading, please comment me up. Also, if you haven't, please check my previous post about my trip of awesomeness to see Brooks Robinson!!!!!!!
