Another TTM Success From Vern Law

A few weeks ago, I went up to Winston-Salem for a couple of games and stopped by the LCS.  They had a bargain box where I found this 1952 Bowman Vern Law. I picked the card up for a couple of bucks then dropped it in the mail to Law for a TTM request.  The card came back signed and loaded with inscriptions.  It looks really cool.
Law may have felt sorry for my beat up 52 Bowman, as he included this nice 1966 Topps.  He loaded this one with signatures, as well.

I mailed to Law on August 21 and got the cards back on September 5, for a 15-day TAT. I paid his fee of $20/card.

TTM Success - Vern Law

My mom asked me when I posted my card that Vance Law had his dad, Vern, sign, why I didn't post Vern Law's stats.  Well, I didn't post them because I had a plan to get Vern Law on his own.

I bought the above 1952 Topps off of Ebay, along with the below 1955 Bowman and 1961 Nu Card Scoops.  I wanted to add another 1952 to the autograph binder since I like 1952 Topps so much.  Law included some nice awesome inscriptions to the card, as well.
The 1955 Bowman received the same inscriptions as the 1952 Topps.  This is the card that really made me want to send to Law in the first place.  I passed on buying one at the February card show, but ended up getting this off of EBay instead.
Finally, Law left the inscriptions off of the '61 Nu Card Scoops, I guess since it already pretty plainly says he won the Cy Young award.  I had been wanting to add a Scoops card to the binder for some time now, and finally have it.

Law (b. 1930) played in the majors in 1950, 1951 and 1954 to 1967 for the Pirates.  He had a career record of 162-147 with 1,092 strike outs and an ERA of 3.77.  He received MVP votes in four seasons, with his best finish being 6th in his Cy Young Year, 1960.  He won the World Series that season with the Pirates, and was on the NL All Star team.

Law appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot 7 times between 1973 and 1979, with his highest voting percentage being 2.4% in 1973.  Law is outspoken against his autograph showing up on EBay, so he charges a signing fee of $10/card.  I sent a check along with my request, so I didn't mind paying the fees.  I had gotten Law on a ball back in 2012, which you can read about here.

I mailed to Law on March 14 and got the cards back on March 21, for a 7-day TAT.

TTM Success - Vance Law

Here is a really cool addition to the autograph album from Vance Law.  I had heard that if you sent Law the above 1985 Topps Father/Son card, he would also have his dad, Vern Law, sign it.  Well, I sent one along, and was able to prove that theory true.  I thought that was a really cool touch, and adds something special to the album.  Vern Law also included the 1960 Cy Young inscription to the card.
I also sent these two Topps cards, a 1985 and a 1988.  Law has a really nice signature; one of the better ones that I've been able to get.

Law (b. 1956) played in the majors from 1980 to 1989 and 1991 for the Pirates, White Sox, Expos, Cubs and A's.  He had 972 hits, 71 home runs and a .256 batting average.  He was an All Star in 1988 for the Cubs,  He also pitched in 7 games in the majors.  He had a 0-0 won-loss record, 2 strike outs and a 3.38 ERA.

I mailed to Law on January 26 and got the cards back on February 10, for a 15-day TAT.

TTM Success - Vern Law

After a long day of work, I came home to a nice padded mailer in my mailbox which could only mean that I had a TTM waiting for me.  Inside my package was this ball, signed by former Pirate pitcher, Vern Law.
Law (b. 1930) played from 1950, 51, 54-67 all for the Pirates.  He won the Cy Young Award in 1960, when only one award was handed out, instead of one per league as it is now.  He also won the World Series with the Pirates that same year.  Law retired with a record of 162-147, 1,092 strikeouts and a 3.77 ERA.
Law is my 60th TTM success.  I mailed to him on June 13 and got my ball back signed today (June 19) making him a 6-day TAT.  He charges a fee of $8.00 for a signature on a ball, which I feel is well worth it.
