2026 National Free Signer - Randy Martz

Randy Martz was the next free signer at this year's National. I had him sign the above 1982 Topps and the 1983 Donruss and 1983 Topps shown below. 

Martz (b. 1956) played in the majors from 1980 to 1983 for the Cubs and White Sox. He had a record of 17-19 with 78 strike outs and a 3 78 ERA.

Martz was pretty friendly, and his line moved quickly. Something I noticed this year was how much better the VIP lines moved. I went through **most** of the lines very fast.

TTM Success - Jack O'Connor

Another 1991 Crown Orioles card has been signed and added to the autograph album. I saw that I could add Jack O'Connor via TTM, so I found some other cards to send along.

He signed a 1982 Topps, 1983 Topps, 1983 Donruss and 1988 Score. The Score is the only card I saw that showed O'Connor in an Orioles uniform. 

O'Connor (b. 1958) played in the majors from 1981 to 1985 and 1987 for the Twins and Orioles. He had a record of 14-17 with 177 strike outs and a 4.89 ERA.

I mailed to O'Connor on January 2 and got the cards back on February 5, for a 34-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Dave Edler

Here is a nice 1983 Topps that came back signed TTM by Dave Edler. My mind keeps thinking Elder, but it is Edler. He signed the card in black Sharpie, and it turned out well.

Edler (b. 1956) played in the majors from 1980 to 1983 for the Mariners. He had 72 hits, 6 home runs and a .216 batting average. 

I mailed to Edler on September 3 and got the card back on February 3, for a 154-day TAT.

TTM Success - John Pacella

Another TTM success came in from a former Oriole featured in the 1991 Crown Orioles set. John Pacella was also in the 1983 Topps set, so I sent this card off, as well.

It sucks that he isn't shown in an Orioles uniform, but this card is still signed.

Pacella (b. 1956) played in the majors in 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1984 and 1986 for the Mets, Yankees, Twins, Orioles and Tigers. He has a record of 4-10 with 116 strike outs and a 5.73 ERA.

I mailed to Pacella on December 4 and got the cards back on December 17, for a 13-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Dave Hostetler

Here is another 1983 Topps that came back signed recently.  Dave Hostetler signed his card in black Sharpie after I sent it out TTM.

Hostetler (b. 1956) played in the majors from 1981 to 1984 and 1988 for the Expos, Rangers and Pirates.  He had 187 hits, 37 home runs and a .229 batting average. 

I mailed to Hostetler on October 18 and got the card back on October 30, for a 12-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Larry Christenson

Six years ago (in 2019) I got a TTM success from Larry Christenson on three cards.  I felt that enough tome had passed, so I sent two more cards that hadn't yet been signed, a 1984 Topps (above) and the 1983 Topps below.

Both cards turned out nicely. I now have five different Christenson cards in the autograph album. 

I mailed to Christenson on October 14 and got the cards back on October 25 for an 11-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Gary Rajsich

A 1983 Topps was added to the autograph album when this one came back TTM signed by Gary Rajsich.  The card turned out fine.

Rajsich (b. 1954) played in the majors from 1982 to 1985 for the Mets, Cardinals and Giants.  He had 70 hits, 3 home runs and a .236 batting average. 

I mailed to Rajsich on October 10 and got the card back signed on October 18 for an 8-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Bud Anderson

A pass through my bulk Topps box with cards ranging from 1969 to 1984 allowed me to find these two cards of Bud Anderson that I sent out TTM to him for autographs.  Above is a 1983 Topps, and below is his 1979 Topps rookie card. 

It looks like Byron McLaughlin doesn't sign, so I'm not sure if I'm going to take a chance in sending the cards out again.  I could go ahead and get Greg Biercevicz; he is taking over 100 days or so to sign. Then I could maybe wait and see if McLaughlin does a signing or something. 

Anderson (b. 1956) played in the majors in 1982 and 1983 for the Indians.  He had a record of 4-10 with 76 strike outs and a 3.68 ERA.

I mailed to Anderson on August 29 and got the cards back on September 15 for a 17-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Brian Kingman

A couple nice 80s cards made their way into the autograph album when this TTM success came in from Brian Kingman.  The above 1983 Topps looks pretty nice. 

I also got this 1980 Topps signed. Derek Bryant hasn't signed since 2022; Mike Morgan hasn'tsigned since 2021, so I'm not too sure I'll be able to complete this card. I may give it a shot though.  

Kingman (b. 1953) played in the majors from 1979 to 1983 for the As and Giants.  He had a record of 23-45 with 273 strike outs and a 4.13 ERA.  He lost 20 games in 1980.  

I mailed to Kingman on November 23 and got the cards back on December 11 for an 18-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Steve Braun

Several nice vintage cards came back signed TTM by Steve Braun recently.  I was especially happy that I added another 1972 Topps to the album.  I like the old school All Star Rookie trophy.

I also got back his 1978, 1980 and 1983 Topps.

Braun (b. 1948) played in the majors from 1971 to 1985 for the Twins, Mariners, Royals, Blue Jays and Cardinals.  He had 989 hits, 52 home runs and a .271 batting average.  He won the 1982 World Series with the Cardinals.

I mailed to Braun on October 22 and got the cards back on November 29 for a 38-day TAT. 

Another TTM Success From Tom Burgmeier

The last time I sent to Tom Burgmeier TTM, I only had two of his cards.  Since then, I got a lot more in my hoard and was able to send off these five, which included the above 1972 Topps.  I love how the 72s look when signed. 

I also got his 1973, 1978, 1982 and 1973 Topps signed. This helped me move several cards out of the boxes.

I mailed to Burgmeier on January 3 and got the cards back on March 29, for an 86-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Jimmy Sexton

Some more early 80s cards came in signed TTM when I got this success back from Jimmy Sexton.  He helped me get a 1983 Topps and a 1983 Donruss out of my boxes.

Sexton (b. 1951) played in the majors from 1977 to 1979 and 1981 to 1983 for the Mariners, Astros, A's and Cardinals.  He had 81 hits, 5 home runs and a .218 batting average. 

I mailed to Sexton on February 7 and got the cards back on March 11, for a 33-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Mike Richardt

A couple more 1983 cards were added to the autograph album when I received this TTM success from Mike Richardt.  He signed a 1983 Topps and a 1983 Donruss. Both turned out well.

Richardt (b. 1958) played in the majors in 1980 and from 1982 to 1984 for the Rangers and Astros.

He had 131 hits, 4 home runs and a. 226 batting average. I mailed to Richardt on February 9 and got the cards back on February 23, for a 14-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Dwight Bernard

A couple cards from 1983 came back signed TTM when I got this success in from Dwight Bernard.  He was a guy I found while going through an 80s box.  I've tried to reduce the amount of those cards slowly by getting as many as I can signed.  I was able to find some guys during that pass through the box, so it was nice to get a few done.

Bernard (b. 1952) played in the majors in 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1982 for the Mets and Brewers.  He had a record of 4-8 with 92 strike outs and a 4.14 ERA.

I mailed to Bernard on January 23 and got the cards back on February 5, for a 13-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Junior Kennedy

This past week was horrible for incoming mail.  I have a ton of TTM requests out in the world, and for whatever reason, not many have been coming back lately.  The last one to come in this week was of Junior Kennedy.  He signed 5 cards for me, including the above 1980 Topps.  His signature is nice, but small.

He also signed a 1979, 1971, 1982 and 1983 Topps.  All of them look great.

Kennedy (b. 1950) played in the majors in 1974 and from 1978 to 1983 for the Reds and Cubs.  He had 258 hits, 4 home runs and a .248 batting average.

I mailed to Kennedy on January 3 and got the cards back on January 17, for a 14-day TAT. 

TTM Success - George Foster

The 2005 Topps Pristine relic card above of Heorge Foster was the second relic card I pulled.  I got it back in 05 and had held it in a box of some of my favorite cards.  I realized that I had never gotten Foster TTM, so when I decided to mail to him, I dug this card out and sent it along.  It turned out great.

I also sent a 1981 Drakes, a 1983 Topps and a 2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts.  All of them turned out well.  The Legendary Cuts started the whole thing; my friend, Jesse, was looking through some of my cards, saw it and told me I should send to Foster.  I don't know why I waited all this time to send to him, but I'm glad I finally did.

Foster (b. 1948) played in the majors from 1969 to 1986 for the Giants, Reds, Mets and White Sox.  He had 1,925 hits, 348 home runs and a .274  batting average.  He led the NL in home runs in 1977 (52) and 1978 (40).  He led the NL in RBIs in 1976 (121), 1977 (149) and 1978 (120).  He was an All Star from 1976 o 1979 and 1981.  He won the World Series with the Reds in 1975 and 1976; this was the era of the Big Red Machine.  Foster was the NL MVP in 1977 and finished second in 1976.  A third place finish in 1981 would follow.  That season, he won his only Solver Slugger Award.  Foster appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot from 1992 to 1995, barely cracking the required 5% to stay on the ballot, before falling off in 1995.

I mailed to Foster on December 20 and got the cards back on January 16, for a 27-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $5/card.

Another TTM Success From Jon Matlack

Another TTM success from Jon Matlack came in after I pulled a few of his cards that I hadn't already gotten signed. The above 1975 Topps Mini was from Conrad's stuff, and turned out great.

The above 1983 and 1984 Topps cards also turned out nicely.  These two sets get overlooked a lot of the time lately because I prefer other years over these.  They're still nice.  I've started pulling more 83s and 84s, so they'll start to fill the autograph album more.

I mailed to Matlack on October 21 and got the cards back on October 31, for a 10-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Dave Van Gorder

Another TTM success driven by a 1991 Crown Orioles card came to pass when I received these cards from former Oriole, Dave Van Gorder.  The Crown card turned out nicely, which was the goal.

I also got a 1983 Topps and a 1986 Donruss signed, and they both turned out great.

Van Gorder (b. 1957) played in the majors in 1982 and from 1984 to 1987 for the Reds and Orioles.  He had 89 hits, 3 home runs and a .212 batting average. I mailed to Van Gorder on September 29 and got the cards back on October 25, for a 26-day TAT. 

TTM Success - UL Washington

These UL Washington cards have been sitting in my to-be-TTMed box for a long time.  I finally got around to paying his fee, and I'm glad I got them done.  Washington jas a great signature.  I haven't gotten as many 1984 Topps as I have some others from that era, but this one looks really sharp.

I also got 1980, 1983, 1985 and 1986 Topps cards signed with this success. 

Washington (b. 1953) played in the majors from 1977 to 1987 for the Royals, Pirates and Expos.  He had 703 hits, 27 home runs and a .251 batting g average.

I mailed to Washington on September 30 and got the cards back on October 11, for an 11-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $3/card.

TTM Success - Fred Breining

This mugshot of Fred Breining aside, I was happy to add a few 80s cards of the former pitcher to my autograph album recently.  I got these three cards back signed TTM.  The above 1985 Topps is a bit curious to me; the card looks airbrushed, and could have been taken the same time as Breining's portrait shot on the inset of the below 1983 Topps.  It looks like the same stadium in the background.  I believe they took an alternate shot from that photo session and airbrushed it in order to make the 1985 Topps card.  I could be wrong, but that's my theory.

Breining (b. 1955) played in the majors from 1980 to 1984 for the Giants and Expos.  He had a record of 27-20 with 260 strike outs and a 3.34 ERA.  Breining was traded to the Expos on February 27, 1984, along with Max Venable, for Al Oliver and a player to be named later.  That player is my current insurance rep, Andy McGaffigan.

I mailed to Breining on October 27 and got the cards back on December 5, for a 39-day TAT.
