Another TTM Success From Al Bumbry

Al Bumbry has signed for me several times; TTM and IP.  I didn't think I had anything left to get signed by him, then I had the idea of filling out this 1973 Topps Rookie Outfielders card.  I sent to Charlie Spikes first, then I sent to a private signing with Dwight Evans.  Finally, I finished the card by sending off to Bumbry.  The card looks awesome fully signed.
Bumbry sent along this signed Orioles post card.  I have some of these, but another doesn't hurt.
Finally, I found this 1978 Topps somewhere (the Winston-Salem card shop, I think).  I didn't have one of these signed yet, so it went along with the other card.

I mailed to Bumbry on May 15 and June 2, for an 18-day TAT.  I sent to the Evans signing on March 1 and got the card back on March 31, for a 30-day TAT. I don't know why I let it sit for so long before getting it out.

2022 National Free Signer - Al Bumbry

He has signed at Camden Yards as part of the Orioles Alumni; he has signed at Orioles Fan Fest (back before the Orioles killed that); he signs through the mail, but I still had some Al Bumbry cards that I hadn't yet gotten signed.  I started with this 1991 Crown Orioles, which was a good one to carry with me.
I also had a 1983 Donruss, 1985 Fleer and a 1985 Topps.  All of the cards turned out great.  I don't think I have anything else of him that is unsigned.

Bumbry was nice, as always, and I was glad he was one of the signers.  It is always nice to see him, and I feel like it has been a bunch of times, now.

Some Signed Cards From Cal

These signed cards from my friend, Cal, have been sitting in a box to be blogged for quite a while, so I was glad to get them scanned and blogged today.  The above 2005 Topps Heritage David Segui is a nice card.  I didn't open much of this product back in the day, so it is nice to add one of them to the album.
Here are the other two cards from Cal, a 1978 Topps Al Bumbry and a 2003 Donruss Team Heroes Travis Driskill.  Both of these are nice, as well.  I didn't already have the Bumbry, which was strange for me, so that was nice to add to the album.

Thanks for the cards, Cal, I appreciate them!  I wish I had posted them sooner, but better late than never.

Postcards From Dan

I met a guy while graphing at Wood Ducks games this season named Dan.  I helped him out early in the season, and we got to be graphing buddies.  Not too long ago, Dan bought some ball cubes off of me, and also gave me a few Orioles post cards that he had gotten signed at a game this past season.
Dan had gone to an Orioles game and got these post cards at an alumni signing.  I think they do this on Monday nights.  I went to one where Al Bumbry was signing a few years ago.  I wouldn't mind catching another and getting some cards signed.

Thank you for the signed post cards, Dan!

TTM Success - Al Bumbry

A TTM request I sent back in May finally came Saturday when I received 6 cards from former Oriole, Al Bumbry.  I have met Bumbry at Camden Yards, and also got a ball signed by him in a Tristar Mystery box, but I wanted to see if I could get a TTM return of him on some cards I've had for years in an Orioles album.  I had so many cards to choose from for Bumbry, I really enjoyed the selection process of what I wanted to send him.  I didn't have any cards signed from this 1993 Ted Williams product, so I figured this one would look nice.  The auto smeared just a touch, but the card still looks great!
This card marks only the fourth 1974 that I have been able to get signed.  I don't have any bulk '74s at all, so that year is very under represented in my auto album.
I have quite a few 75s, thanks to my buddy, Max, but the one I got from Bumbry (top left) was in my album.  I probably got the card when I was building the 75 set years ago.  Same with the other cards in this scan.  They all came out of my O's album.  Now, they will be transferred into my autograph album.  Speaking of albums, I have not started my third autograph album, after filling up two others to capacity with IP/TTM autos.

Bumbry (b. 1947) played in the majors from 1972 to 1985 for the Orioles and Padres.  He had 1,422 hits, 54 home runs and a .281 career average.  He was the 1973 AL Rookie of the Year.  He was an All Star in 1980 and finished 13th in the AL MVP voting (his only time on the ballot).  Bumbry won the World Series with the O's in 1983 and appeared on the 1991 Hall of Fame ballot, but did not receive any votes.

I mailed to Bumbry on May 2 and got the cards back on November 12, for a 194-day TAT.

July 2013 Trip to Baltimore - Meeting Al Bumbry

I made my annual trek to Baltimore yesterday to see the Orioles lay an egg against the Rangers (the O's really are limping into the All Star break, uggh).  On this trip, I took my son and also my nephew, Jacob.  It was Jack's first major league game, so I wanted to make sure he had a good time.  Luckily, when I picked up the tickets, I saw that it was going to be an Orioles Alumni autograph signing.  We didn't know who the signers would be until we got to the game, but we lucked out and got Oriole great and former Rookie of the Year, Al Bumbry.  Here is a pic of Chris getting a ball signed by Bumbry.
Mr. Bumbry was nice enough to pose for a picture with Jacob and Chris, which was pretty awesome.  There were supposed to be two other guys there (Fred Valentine and Ken Dixon) but they were unable to attend after getting stuck in traffic.  They may have gotten there later, but we took Bumbry and made out way to our seats.
Bumbry (b. 1947) played in the majors from 1972 to 1985 with the Orioles and Padres.  He was the 1973 AL Rookie of the Year and won the World Series with the Orioles in 1983.  He was an All Star one time (1980) in a career year that saw him collect 205 hits with a .318 batting average.  In his career, he had 1,422 hits, 54 home runs and a .281 batting average.
