TTM Success - Jay Buhner

Here's a guy that I was very exc9ted.to see was signing TTM lately.  When I was growing up, Jay Buhner was kind of a bad ass.  He was a pretty potent hitter on some good Mariners teams.  I was glad to send along the above 1996 Topps Gallery, it looks really great signed.

I had Buhner's 1988 Topps Glossy Rookies card, which turned out well.  I haven't gotten many of those signed, so it was easy to pick that one to send out.  I also got his 1994 Studio and his 1995 Collectors Choice SE done.

Buhner (b. 1964) played in the majors from 1987 to 2001 for the Yankees and Mariners.  He had 1,273 hits, 310 home runs and a .254 batting average.  He was an All Star in 1996.  His best MVP finish was 5th in 1995 (AL).  He appeared on the 2007 Hall of Fame ballot and received 0.2% of the vote.

I mailed to Buhner on July 16 and got the cards back on July 28 for a 12-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $5.00/card.

Another TTM Success From Jason Jacome

Going through my boxes recently during the baseball playoffs yielded me a bunch of cards to try to send out TTM and add to the autograph album. 

I found some nice cards to send out to Jason Jacome.  I had a fondness for 1995 Collectors Choice SE, and was able to get one of them signed.  I love the blue  order on the card, and it reminds me of the time when my mom would take me to the LCS and get packs with me.

I also got a 1995 Donruss and a 1995 Pinnacle signed by Jacome.  The signatures on these were a little more visible on the cards than the Collectors Choice.  Must have been the blue on blue on blue.

I mailed to Jacome on October 9 and got the cards back on November 22, for a 44-day TAT.

TTM Success - Ken Hill

There are a lot of times where I talk about cards that have been sitting in my "to be TTMed" box for a long time.  For whatever reason, they sit.  One of which is when a player charges for their signature.  I rarely have cash on me, so that is a reason why I wait to send to players who charge fees.  One such player who's cards sat for a long time was former pitcher, Ken Hill.  I would pass his cards many times, and continue to wait to send them.  Finally, one day, I decided to go ahead and get the cards out of the box and into the mail.  It helped that I had found $10 lying on the ground as I was walking laps around the office building one morning.

The above 1990 Toys R Us card was one that I definitely wanted to add to the autograph album.  When I made the decision to send to Hill, this one was the first card I put into the envelope.

Of all of the other Hill cards that I had, I chose these four to round out the shipment.  Clockwise from top left are a 1995 Upper Deck Collectors Choice SE, 1996 Topps, 1995 Score Summit and a 1997 Topps Finest Hurlers.  I believe Hill's may be the first 1995 Score Summit in the album.  That is a very sharp-looking card, and turned out very nicely once signed.

Hill (b. 1965) played in the majors from 1988 to 2001 for the Cardinals, Expos, Indians, Rangers, Angels, White Sox and Devil Rays.  He had a record of 117-109 with 1,181 strike outs and a 4.06 ERA.  He was an All Star in 1994 when he led the NL in wins (16) prior to the strike ending the season.  He finished second that year in the NL Cy Young race to Greg Maddux.  He finished 12th in the NL MVP voting that season.

I mailed to Hill on November 23 and got the cards back on December 17, for a 24-day TAT.  I paid his fee of $3/card.

TTM Success - Chad Curtis

More mid-90s junk was era cards have been removed from my boxes and transferred to my autograph album with this TTM success from Chad Curtis.  He signed my 1996 Pinnacle, which came from a wax box that I busted way back when I was in Illinois for Andrew's graduation (seems like a long time ago, now).

I also got a 1995 Collectors Choice SE and a 1995 Leaf signed.  I busted a lot of 1995 Leaf while searching for Statistical Standouts inserts, and still find the loose cards among stuff here at the house.

Curtis (b. 1968) played in the majors from 1992 to 2001 for the Angels, Tigers, Dodgers, Indians, Yankees and Rangers.  He had 1,061 hits, 101 home runs and a .264 batting average.  He won the World Series 1998 and 1999 with the Yankees.

I mailed to Curtis on May 10 and got the cards back on May 22, for a 12-day TAT.  He signed 3 of 5, keeping 2 of the other cards.

TTM Success - Terrell Wade

Here some nice mid-90s cards that I was able to get signed TTM from Terrell Wade.  The above 1995 Collectors Choice SE turned out really well.  These are very colorful cards, and also look very 90s.

I also got a 1997 Upper Deck and a 1996 Score Select signed by Wade.

Wade (b. 1973) played in the majors from 1995 to 1998 for the Braves and Devil Rays.  He had a record of 8-5 with 125 strike outs and a 3.99 ERA.

I mailed to Wade on May 10 and got the cards back on May 17, for a 7-day TAT.  I sent 5 cards and he signed 3.
