TTM Success - Ralph Garr

This 1971 Topps Braves Rookie Stars card is now complete, since I added Ralph Garr. I was able to send to him TTM after getting Rick Kester back in March. The card came in, and I turned it right around to Garr.

Garr (b. 1945) played in the majors from 1968 to 1980 for the Braves, White Sox and Angels. He had 1,562 hits, 75 home runs and a .306 batti g average. He was the NL batting champ in 1974 with a .353 average. He was an All Star that season. He had 200 or more hits 3 times in his career (1971, 1973 and 1974). His best finish in the MVP race was 12th in 1974 (NL). 

I mailed to Garr on March 2 and got the card back on March 17, for a 15-day TAT. I paid his fee of $5.00.

TTM Success - Rick Kester

Here are two cards that came back signed TTM recently that I should be able to complete. Actually, both have been mailed back out for completion, so i really hope they come back. I sent to Ricl Kester with the thought that I had a good shot as getting them done, and am almost there.  He has a nice signature, and signed quickly.

Kester (b. 1946) played in the majors from 1968 to 1970 for the Braves. He had a record of 0-0 with 31 strike outs and a 5.98 ERA.

I mailed to Kester on December 4 and got the cards back on December 15, for an 11-day TAT. 

2019 National Free Signer - Ralph Garr

I waited in line for a long time at the National to get Ralph Garr.  As the show progressed over the week, I was able to get the free signers quicker and quicker, as I began to avoid getting in line, and instead, just checking back every so often, until I could get in the line and get through.

Garr signed slowly, and also took the time to speak to everyone and thank them for meeting him.  He was really nice, and I was glad to get this 1975 SSPC signed that Max gave me years ago.

Garr (b. 1945) played in the majors from 1968 to 1980 for the Braves, White Sox and Angels.  He had 1,562 hits, 75 home runs and a .306 batting average.  He was the 1974 NL Batting Champion, when he hit .353 and collected 214 hits over the season.  That year was his only All Star appearance, and he finished a career-best 12th in the NL MVP race.  In his career, Garr had three seasons where his had 200 or more hits.
