1955 Topps #152 - Harry Agganis

Harry Agganis (b. 1929 - d. 1955) played for two seasons in the majors (1954 and 1955) for the Red Sox. He had career numbers of 135 hits, 11 home runs and a batting average of .261. Agganis' is a sad story, for sure. As you can see, he had a pretty decent 1954 season, and he was playing really well to start the 1955 season. In June of the 1955 season, but he was hospitalized with pneumonia. He would rejoin the Red Sox, but got sick again later in the month and died of a pulmonary embolism.
