1955 Topps #65 - Ray Boone


The Patriarch of the Boone baseball family, Ray Boone (b. 1923 - d. 2004) played from 1948 to 1960 for the Indians, Tigers, White Sox, A's, Braves and Red Sox. He compiled 1,260 hits, 151 home runs and a .275 batting average. He was a member of the 1948 World Champion Cleveland Indians and was an All Star twice (1954 and 1956).

The Boone family is the first baseball family to send three generations to the All Star Game. Ray Boone's son Bob played from 1972 to 1990 while grandsons Brett played from 1992 to 2005 and Aaron played from 1997 to 2009.
