Another TTM Success From Joe Borchard

My friend Ryan sent me a couple older Bowman cards of Joe Borchard that I sent out TTM. They came back signed not too long after. I like this 2003 Bowman. I get them mixed up with 2001, since the designs are so similar (and 2004, too).

I also got this 2002 Bowman signed, and it also looks nice. I'm really glad Ryan sent me these older Bowmans that I didn't have in my boxes.

I mailed to Borchard on March 2 and got the cards back on March 12, for a 10-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Derell McCall

Here are two Derell McCall cards that I was able to get signed TTM. I'm pretty sure that the above 2003 Bowman came from the stack of early 2000s Bowman that Ryan sent me.  I think the below 2003 Topps came out of my own box.

McCall (b. 1981) was a 10th round pick by the A's in the 2000 June Amateur Draft out of J. M. Tate High School in Florida. He played in the minors from 2000 to 2004 and 2007 to 2009 in the A's and Marlins systems. He reached AA in affiliated ball and also bounced around the independent leagues for a bit.

In the minors, McCall had a record of 45-52 with 531 strike outs and a 4.29 ERA. I mailed to McCall on December 10 and got the cards back on December 30, for a 20-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Nathan Panther

Here is another older Bowman card that my friend Ryan sent me to try TTM. Nathan Panther has one of those great names, so I was excited to get his card back signed. 

Panther (b. 1981) was a 15th round pick by the Indians in the 2002 June Amateur Draft out of Muscatine Community College in Iowa. He played in the minors from 2002 to 2008 in the Indians system. He reached AAA. He had 594 hits, 56 home runs and a .255 batting average. He played in Kinston during the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons.

I mailed to Panther on February 5, 2025, and got the card back signed on December 2, 2026, for a 300-day TAT.

TTM Success - Chris Fallon

This 2003 Bowman came back signed TTM by Chris Fallon recently. It was a card that came in from a stack of early 2000s Bowmans that my friend Ryan sent me.  I don't have many Bowman from 2003 or 2004, so it was nice of Ryan to help me out.

Fallon (b. 1979) was a 22nd round pick by the Royals in the 2001 June Amateur Draft out of St. Johns.  He played in the minors from 2001 to 2004 in the Royals and Rockies systems, reaching High A. He had 416 hits, 35 home runs and a .272 batting average. 

I mailed to Fallon on September 22 and got the card back on October 20 for a 28-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Jason Perry

This 2003 Bowman of Jason Perry is anther card that Ryan sent me to try to get signed TTM. His signature is really nice on this card.

Perry (b. 1980) played in the majors in 2008 for the Braves.  He had 2 hits, no home runs and a .118 batting average. 

I mailed to Perry on July 17 and got the card back on August 14 for a 28-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Cole Seifrig

This 2003 Bowman of Cole Seifrig is another of a stack of cards that Ryan sent to me to try TTM.  I got this back signed by Seifrig, but the signature smudged a bit.  Oh well.

Seifrig (b. 1984) was a 5th round pick by the Marlins in the 2003 June Amateur Draft out of an Indiana high school.  He played in the Marlins system from 2003 to 2005, reaching Low A.  

He had 204 hits, 16 home runs and a .224 batting average. I mailed to Seifrig on April 23 and got the card back on May 15 for a 22-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Dave Matragna

Something I've learned is that these early 2000s thicker Bowman cards do not do well in the mail. The machinery seems to put crease lines on the cards.  Oh well.  This 2003 Bowman Dave Matragna card still looks cool, even if the USPS beat it up.  I'll probably get myself a sheet of non-machinable stamps and use those when I send out these thicker cards.

Matragna (b. 1977) played in the majors in 2003 and 2005 for the Astros and Angels.  He had 1 hit, 1 home run and 1 RBI.  His career batting average was .167.

I mailed to Matragna on February 6 and got the card back today (April 11), for a 65-day TAT.

TTM Success - David Corrente

A couple 2003 Bowmans of David Corrente got signed TTM the other day after being returned to sender a while back. I finally found a working address and had a success.

Corrente signed both cards and included a letter, which was awesome. He's a pastor in Canada now.  The address I sent to was in the states, so he must be traveling back and forth. 

Corrente (b. 1983) was a 14th round pick by the Blue Jays in the 2001 June Amateur Draft out of a Canadian high school.  He played in the minors from 2001 to 2008, all in the Blue Jays system, reaching AAA.  He had 252 hits, 31 home runs and a .234 batting average. 

I mailed to Corrente on October 11 and got the cards back on November 20, for a 40-day TAT. 

TTM Success - Luke Anderson

Here is another early 2000s Bowman card that I was able to get signed TTM; this one being a 2003 Bowman signed by Luke Anderson.  The card got wrecked in the mail and his signature was on a Sharpie breathing its last breath.  Still, the card is signed and is in my album.  I can't complain too bad.

Anderson (b. 1978) was an 18th round pick by the Giants in the 2000 June Amateur Draft out of the University of Nevada. He pitched in the minors from 2000 to 2005, all in the Giants system.  He had a record of 13-12 with 282 strike outs and a 3.82 ERA.

I mailed to Anderson on October 3 and got the card back on October 17, for a 14-day TAT.

TTM Success - Royce Ring

Another 2003 Bowman was added to my autograph album via a TTM success when I got this card back from Royce Ring.  The card turned out ok; these thicker Bowman cards get beat up in the mail.  I think I need to order some "non machinable" stamps for these thicker cards and see if that makes a difference.

Ring (b. 1980) played in the majors from 2005 to 2008 and 2010 for the Mets, Padres, Braves and Yankees.  He had a record of 3-3 with 55 strike outs and a  5.29 ERA.

I mailed to Ring on March 7 and got the card back on October 15, for a 222-day TAT.

TTM Success - Chad Hutchinson

These older Bowman cards look really nice when they come back signed TTM.  I got this 2003 Bowman back from Chad Hutchinson recently, and it turned out really well.  His current signature looks a lot like the facsimile signature used on the original card, which is kind of funny.

Hutchinson (b. 1977) was a first round pick (26th overall) by the Braves in the 1995 June Amateur Draft out of high school, but chose to go to Stanford instead.  He was then drafted by the Cardinals in the second round of the 1998 June Amateur Draft.  He made the majors in 2001 with the Cardinals and pitched in 3 games.  He was 0-0 with 2 strike outs and a 24.75 ERA, and was out of organized baseball after that.

I mailed to Hutchinson on November 17 and got the card back on March 2, for a 104-day TAT.

TTM Success - Jason Jennings

I don't have nearly as many signed cards from the mid-to-late 2000s as I do of cards from the 80s or 90s.  It just seems to be a bit harder right now to find guys out of those sets who sign.  Luckily, I was able to get a TTM success from former pitcher, Jason Jennings that helped take care of a few needed sets for my album.

This 2007 Topps Chrome turned out a lot better than the scan shows.  His choice of a thin blue Sharpie worked out well with the cards that I was able to get back signed.

I really like it when I am able to find cards in my boxes and am able to send them out.  Like finding this 2001 Leaf Rookies and Stars.  I'm not sure where it came from, but I imagine that the card came from a repack box or something way back when.  I still like to pick those up from time to time when I see them.  Nothing wrong with a good repack, especially if you are looking for oddballs for graphing.

I added a Topps card to my autograph project, and also a Bowman that I don't think I had in the album.  I was still several years away from busting Bowman boxes when 2003 Bowman came out.  I probably got this one from a repack as well.

Jennings (b. 1978) played in the majors from 2001 to 2009 for the Rockies, Astros and Rangers.  He had a career record of 62-74 with 749 strike outs and a 4.95 ERA.  He was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2002.

I mailed to Jennings on June 12 and got the cards back on August 24, for a 73-day TAT.
