TTM Success - Josh Parr

While going through my prospect boxes, I pulled a bunch of guys that I saw who signed TTM and pulled enough to fill a smaller box.  So, I've had a ton of choices of folks to send to, and I have already sent out over 150 TTM request in the new year.  One of the players I came across in the boxes was Josh Parr.  I found several of his 2011 Bowman Draft cards, as well as the above 2012 Topps Pro Debut.
All of the cards turned out great.  Especially the card that I initially pulled, the 2011 Bowman Draft Chrome refractor.  Those cards look especially nice, for some reason, and this one was no different.

Parr (b. 1989) was a 12th round pick in the 2011 June Amateur Draft by the Diamondbacks out of the University of Illinois.  He played in the Diamondbacks system from 2011 to 2014, reaching A ball.  He had 149 hits, 11 home runs and a .230 batting average.

I mailed to Parr on January 10 and got the cards back on January 21, for an 11-day TAT.

Happy Bundy Day

After last night's marathon 18 inning affair with the Mariners, the Orioles have called up their number one prospect, Dylan Bundy.
The Orioles used 8 pitchers in the game last night, so they needed someone in the bullpen tonight, just in case Joe Saunders gets shelled and can't pitch deep into the game.  Bundy was supposed to have been shut down and sent to instructional league in Florida, but last night's craziness facilitated the move.

I should be worried.  I mean, in years past, the rushing of certain pitching prospects to the majors seems to have continually had a negative impact on the organization.  However, in Bundy's case, I think this was a good move.  It speaks of Tampa's promotion of then prospect David Price in the latter weeks of the 2008 season.  Price came in out of the bullpen and was dominant during the Rays' postseason run that year.  I'm hoping that Bundy can have a similar impact on the Orioles.

Breaking Away From Yard Work

52 bags of mulch (2 cu ft each), 70 pieces of brick edging and two days later, my yard looks so much better than it did Friday night.  I have company coming over next weekend for a little get together to finally celebrate my passing of the ASBOG Exam (this past November) and moving into the house (Last April).  In order to get ready for everything, I wanted to make sure our yard looked nice.  Now it does.  When I finished this evening, I decided to hop in the car and head to the Greenville card shop and get some packs.  My wife and son got a few as well.  I got: a pack of 2012 Donruss Elite Extra Edition, 2 packs of 2011 Bowman Chrome, a pack of 2011 Topps Finest, 2012 Playoff Contenders and 2011 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects.
AWESOME.  Another Dylan Bundy.  I now have his base card and blue refractor auto.  I think he is the real deal.  He has done a good job in spring training so far.  Hopefully, he can parlay that into a successful minor league season for this year in hopes of cracking the majors next year.
I also got this C.J. Cron on card auto out of Playoff Contenders.  I like Playoff/Donruss' offerings.  I think they would be a formidable alternative to Topps (as long as Topps continues in baseball as well).

So, now that I have this post up, I can go collapse into a char and take the rest of the night off.  Done!

AWESOME Hit At The Card Shop!

My wife, son and I did our weekly Sunday ritual of having lunch at a local hot dog shop then heading by the Greenville card shop to say hello to Wendell, the shop's proprietor.  This has been something we all have done for the past several weeks.  I usually pick up supplies while my wife and son get a couple packs.  Today, I picked up two packs of 2011 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects with the sole purpose of getting a base card of Orioles 2011 #1 draft pick, Dylan Bundy.

Well, I didn't get his base card, I did WAY better:
YEAH!  I pulled his blue refractor auto, numbered #112/150.  This card has completed listings on ebay that sold for anywhere between $130 to around $200.  Freaking awesome!  It has been a long time since I have had a major hit of an actual player I was looking for.

The card is beautiful, as I'm sure you can see.  The auto is on card, if you're into that sort of thing.  I'm still excited about pulling it!
