Awesome Brooks Robinson Pickup From The National

On the last day of the National, I was way over budget and almost tapped out on cash.  I didn't let it stop me from adding some cards to my collection, though.  I mean, that was the reason I went to the National in the first place, to have a good time and buy some cards.

I had seen this 2010 Topps Sterling Brooks Robinson 5-piece relic card at the Wednesday sneak peek, but the guy at the table gave a redonkulous price, and I balked at it.

Come Sunday, however, the prices were much more reasonable, and I grabbed this card as my last purchase.

This is the Sterling card that I had mentioned a couple times, if you haven't figured that out already.  I really like the product, and being able to add this to the Brooks PC, well, that was a nice treat.  This might be one of the best Brooks cards that I have in my collection.  It is right up there with the Brooks RC, or the graded 1967 Topps that my mom got me.

My pile of cards from the National is beginning to dwindle down, then I have some IP autos to show.  I'll continue to post some stuff from the National, of course, but in the next week or so, I am going to start getting back into maildays and such.  I hope you all are enjoying seeing the stuff I picked up, though.  Thanks for reading!

Ebay Pickup - 2010 Topps Sterling Brooks Robinson

I told myself that I wasn't going to buy anything on EBay for a while.  Not after everything I spent at the antique shop a few weeks ago.  I was set to buckle down and save for the National.  Yeah, that worked out really well when I opened up my EBay mobile app on my phone a few days ago to see what my notifications were all about.  On my feed was this awesome Brooks Robinson 2010 Topps Sterling 6-piece relic card.  The card is numbered 5/10 and was at an amazing Buy It Now price.  I bought my buddy, Max, one of these for Christmas, except it was Ernie Banks.  I didn't even know Brooks had one in the set.

So, going back to my philosophy of "If you see something amazing and you can afford it, you better get it while you can, because you may never see it again..." (thanks Scott), I picked up the card.

I am so happy I did.  The card looks amazing in person.  As you can see from the scan, both bottom corners have slight dings, but I don't really care.  They take nothing away from the card.  This might be one of the nicest Brooks cards that I have in my collection, now.  I'm really excited about that.

June 21, 2014 Raleigh Card Show Part 1 - The Big Hits

Well, I blew my budget big time today at the Raleigh card show, but man, it felt good.  It felt so good, I'm going to do something I haven't done in a long time on this blog, I am going to do a series of multiple posts, all today, showing off what I got.  I hope you enjoy the ride, because I sure did.

This was the first show that I have gone to completely by myself.  Chris is with my parents for the week and my wife respectfully declined my invitation to go (saying "hell no" is respectfully declining, right?).  I also checked on Instagram and texted a few of my card buddies to see if they wanted to go, and no one was available.  This worked out well for me, since I didn't have anyone rushing me or asking to go home 5 minutes into the show.  So, I was really able to look through stuff and find a lot of good deals.

The above card is a 2010 Topps Sterling Jimmie Foxx multi-piece bat relic card.  The was the single most expensive card that I bought at the show, at $50.  I think it was a good price, though, and believe the card is amazing.  It is numbered 22/25.
The best steal I got was this 2012 Topps Minor League Materials Jonathan Schoop patch card, numbered 2/5.  Holy wow, it's an amazing patch.  What's more amazing is that the guy only wanted $20 for it.  Steal?  I think so! What an amazing find.
Rounding out my relic pickups, I got this 2007 UD SP Legendary Cuts Legendary Materials Brooks Robinson relic for $5.  The card is numbered 152/199 and looks great.

Stick around for part two, coming up in a few minutes.

Black Friday COMC Pickups - Brooks Robinson

I went a little nuts on COMC this past weekend.  I actually sold a good many cards on there, so I had a little bit of store credit to play with, so I picked up 10 cards on Friday; taking advantage of their free shipping offer and the tons of discounts.  When I shipped my cards, I also was able to get one shipped free that I had bought a couple months ago, but didn't want to spend the shipping on.  I wanted to post each card individually, but I'm in the midst of my 1951 Set, so I didn't want to flood the blogs just yet.  I do have another order coming that might get even more special attention.  For now, I'll break this shipment up a little bit.  Here are the Brooks Robinson cards that I was able to pick up.
How did I miss 2010 Topps Sterling?  Oh, $400 a pack, you say?  I'll pass.  I do have to say, though, the cards are SHARP!  I saw this one and picked it up for $1.38.  Not bad.  The card is numbered 197/250 and you really have to see it in person to appreciate how nice it truly is.  Man, I wish they had Nolan Reimold in that set.  That'd be a rainbow to complete.  Might have to go after Brooks instead.
Here is the 2011 Triple Threads Brooks Robinson base card.  I might already have a copy of this one, but it is numbered 1,396 of 1,500 and I was able to grab it for $0.45.
Here is the 2012 Topps Triple Threads Brooks Robinson Sepia parallel.  It is numbered 154/625 and I got it for $1.10.
Finally, here is a 2000 Topps Stars Brooks Robinson.  I thought this was a nice looking card and I picked it up for $0.37.

Stay tuned for the Nolan Reimolds I picked up on Black Friday.  I also got a rookie card of an NL MVP candidate, a 2011 Topps SP of a Hall of Famer and more, all to come!
