TTM Success - Kurt Ainsworth

Here is another Oriole added to my autograph album, Kurt Ainsworth. The cards I sent him were some pretty nice ones, like the above 2004 Upper Deck. I have very few of these, so adding this one was great.  I had been waiting for Ainsworth to sign for a while, and the time finally came to send to him.
I also got a 2004 Topps Total and a 2005 Topps Chrome signed.  Both of these had been buried in my Orioles box, and are now in the autograph album.

Ainsworth (b. 1978) played in the majors from 2001 to 2004 for the Giants and Orioles. He had a record of 6-8 with 90 strike outs and a 5.19 ERA.

I mailed to Ainsworth on October 14 and got the cards back on December 10, for a 57-day TAT.

TTM Success - Buddy Groom

Some more cards were taken out of the big Orioles box that Max sent me and sent off for TTM.  Well, some were from that box, and a couple others were ones that I had pulled a while back to send off.  They all got put together and sent out, and came back signed.
All of the Orioles cards (the 2003 Donruss, 2003 Topps Total and 2004 Topps Total) came from Max, and the 1993 Topps and 1994 Donruss were ones I had put aside in my TTM box and held onto for several years before I finally dropped them in the mail.  All of the cards look nice, and have been added to my album.

Groom (b. 1965) played in the majors from 1992 to 2005 for the Tigers, Marlins, A's, Orioles, Yankees and Diamondbacks.  He had a record of 31-32 with 494 strike outs and a 4.64 ERA.

I mailed to Groom on October 14 and got the cards back on October 25, for an 11-day TAT.

Max Hooks It Up With Even More Signed Franks

My good friend, Max, had another signing session with The Big Hurt, and I was again able to provide a bunch of cards to get signed.  When it came time to claim some of the cards, I got back some nice ones that I sent and the above 1994 Collectors Choice that I wish I could have found and sent.  For whatever reason, I like these cards, and have been wanting to get at least one of them in my autograph album.  I now have one, and it looks really cool.
This 2017 Topps 87 Chrome turned out pretty well.  I love the silver pack cards and am glad to add this one to my album.
Here are the other cards that I got from Max this time around.  The 1994 Topps Black Gold (top right) is one I was really glad to be able to get signed, as it has just sat in my box for probably 25 years.

Thanks, as always, Max!  The cards are great and look awesome in my album!

March 30, 2012 Bargain Bin Pack Pickups

No mail again, so I went to the Kinston card shop to pick up this week's Prime 9 card (Ernie Banks) and bought a bunch of loose cards and bargain bin packs.  Lots of junk wax in the bargain bin, but they are always fun to open.

I bought two packs of 1989 Donruss for 50 cents and the highlight of both packs was this Randy Johnson RC.  The good thing about 1989 Donruss is that it is a decent looking set and has a bunch of future HOF rookie cards in it.  Not bad at all.  The Big Unit looks a little annoyed that someone was taking his picture.  Oh well, 300+ wins and 4,000+ strikeouts later, he is bound for Cooperstown.
I got a pack of 1992 Topps Stadium Club for 75 cents and pulled this Matt Williams.  A very good player in his day, Williams was always a big pull for us when we were growing up.  He now coaches on the DIamondbacks.
Finally, I got a pack of 2004 Topps Total for $1.  I didn't pull anything of note, really, except for this Jason Johnson.  My wife and I met Johnson back in 2001 and he was a really nice guy.  He was my first in person MLB auto.  Not too bad.  I still have mine, my wife's ball has faded.
So, I didn't do all that bad considering I spent less than 3 bucks on the packs.  I'm going to go through the other cards from the packs and sort them out to my regular trade partners.  I hope I get to the loose cards I bought in the next few days, but we'll see.  I hope they get preempted by some good mail tomorrow.  That would be nice.
