TTM Success - Colin Young

2002 Upper Deck is another of those underrated early 2000s sets that I remember fondly. I ended up with quite a few cards from that set back then, but a lot of them were sold off as lots back when I was doing shows. One card that remained was this of Colin Young. I saw that he signed TTM, so I sent it out.

Young (b. 1977) was a 9th round pick by the Rockies in the 1999 June Amateur Draft out of Fordham University. He played in the minors from 1999 to 2004 in the Rockies and Red Sox systems. He reached AA. He had a record of 12-13 with 333 strike outs and a 3.09 ERA.

I mailed to Young on November 24 and got the card back on December 13, for a 19-day TAT.

TTM Success - Adam Donachie

Adam Donachie is a guy who I remember was in the Orioles system a while ago.  I found one of his cards in a box recently, and was curious to see if he signed TTM.  He hadn't signed in years, so I worked my magic in finding an address, and it turned out to be a good one.  I included the 2002 Bowman shown below, and Donachie was nice enough to send me the above 2002 Upper Deck that he signed, and also an unsigned Somerset Patriots team set card (not shown).
Donachie (b. 1984) was a 2nd round pick in the 2002 June Amateur Draft by the Royals out of Timber Creek High School in Florida.  He played in the minors from 2002 to 2011 in the Royals and Orioles systems.  He reached as high as AAA.  He finished his career playing in independent ball from 2012 to 2015 and 2017.

In his minors career, Donachie had 501 hits, 50 home runs and a .225 batting average.

I mailed to Donachie on November 23 and got the cards back on December 2, for a 9-day TAT.  This is the first time in forever that I have been able to blog TTMs within the same month in which I received them.  I'm getting caught up, which is kind of weird.

TTM Success - Luke Hudson

This 2002 Upper Deck Luke Hudson turned out really well when I got it back signed TTM.  I really like this design, and was happy to get this signed.

Hudson (b. 1977) played in the majors in 2002 and from 2004 to 2007 for the Reds and Royals.  He had a career record of 17-18 with 162 strike outs and a 5.11 ERA.

I mailed to Hudson on October 27 and got the card back on March 8, for a 132-day TAT.

TTM Success - Bret Prinz

I got a couple nice early 2000s cards signed by Bret Prinz which included the above 2002 Upper Deck.  I really liked this set, and at one point, had a bunch of them.  I think I let a lot of them go at shows, but a few remain in my boxes.  This one turned out really well.
This 2002 Topps also turned out well.  I have a bunch of these now that I took an almost complete set from my former card shop.  They took out the Mauer rookie and gave me the rest of the cards; this kept them from tossing the rest in the trash.

Prinz (b. 1977) played in the majors from 2001 to 2005 and 2007 for the Diamondbacks, Yankees, Angels and White Sox.  He had a record of 5-4 with 64 strike outs and a 4.89 ERA.

I mailed to Prinz on November 30 and got the cards back on January 5, for a 36-day TAT.

TTM Success - Jason Tyner

I added some nice cards to my autograph album with this TTM success from Jason Tyner.  I found a few of them at my LCS, and a couple others were ones from my boxes here at the house.  The above 1999 Finest looks a lot better in person.  I found it at the LCS.  It was one of those types of cards that used to have the protective film over it, that had to be removed.  I prepped it with powder, and it turned out pretty well.
I also got a 2002 Topps Chrome, 2002 Upper Deck and a 2003 Topps signed by Tyner.

Tyner (b. 1977) played in the majors from 2000 to 2003 and 2005 to 2008 for the Mets, Devil Rays, Twins and Indians.  He had 373 hits, 1 home run and a .275 batting average.

I mailed to Tyner on October 14 and got the cards back on December 9, for a 56-day TAT.

TTM Success - Lee Stevens

I added some late 90s/early 2000s cards to my autograph album with this success from Lee Stevens.  I had a lot of cards to choose from, so I picked one from what is probably my favorite Upper Deck set (2002), and some Topps issues.
I selected his 1998, 2000 and 1999 Topps cards (yes I know they're not in order).  I thought they looked cool with the silver card in between the two gold ones.

Stevens (b. 1967) played in the majors from 1990 to 1992 and 1996 to 2002 for the Angels, Rangers, Expos and Indians.  He had 847 hits, 144 home runs and a .254 batting average.

I mailed to Stevens on January 14 and got the cards back on January 22, for an 8-day TAT.

TTM Success - Marvin Benard

There are some players in my "to be TTMed" box that have floated around in there for quite a while.  For whatever reason, I get set to send to a player, and some of them keep getting pushed back until I finally force myself to put them in the mail.  Nothing against that player, it just kind of happens (especially if I have a batch of vintage guys to send to).

The above 2002 Upper Deck is the card that has been put aside the longest.  It was in a box of mine, which I went through looking for TTM subjects earlier this year.  I loved the horizontal photo and that year of Upper Deck.
Over the course of a few months, I actually was able to locate more cards of Benard.  They all came out of various boxes I have had sitting around here, so it was nice to put them to use (and make room in the boxes).  The 1997 Pinnacle, as you can tell, was part of a batch of late 90s cards that had gotten stuck together.  Luckily, the card wasn't damaged too badly, and it still was able to get signed.

Benard (b. 1971) played in the majors from 1995 to 2003 for the Giants.  He had 714 hits, 54 home runs and a .271 batting average.

I mailed to Benard on November 7 and got the cards back on November 21, for a 14-day TAT.
