Another TTM Success From Johnny Giavotella

Back in 2020, my friend, Gerard, sent a surprise TTM out to Johnny Giavotella for me.  I found a few more of his cards, and sent one of my own recently.  The above 2016 Topps was the big reason for the submission; I like the Gatorade bath shot on the card.
I also had this 2008 Elite Extra Edition that I wanted signed.  It didn't scan well, but the card looks fine.

I mailed to Giavotella on February 3 and got the cards back on February 26, for a 23-day TAT.

TTM Success - Brandon Waring

It's really nice to see a card showing a Wofford uniform.  My younger brother, Adam, is a Wofford Alum and he and I have talked about Brandon Waring in the past.  When Waring went to the Orioles, it was Adam who let me know that Waring had formerly played at Wofford.  When I saw Waring at a minor league game, I got a ball signed for Adam (back when I thought the Wal Mart balls would hold a signature).  The ball had since faded, but I was able to get one of the above 2008 Donruss Elite Extra Edition card signed for him.  I'm sure with it having the Wofford uniform on it made it that much better.
I had held onto Waring's cards for a long time, hoping that I would be able to find a working address and try to get him to sign TTM.  I finally found an address, and was able to get my cards signed.

Waring (b. 1986) is actually from Columbia, SC.  My brother lives there now.  Maybe he and Waring can meet up for a beer.  Waring was a 7th round pick in the 2007 June Amateur Draft out of (you guessed it) Wofford College, in Spartanburg, SC.  He played in the minors from 2007 to 2014 in the Reds, Orioles and Twins systems, reaching as high as AAA.  He had 807 hits, 172 home runs and a .250 batting average.

On December 9, 2008, the Reds traded Waring, Ryan Freel and Justin Turner to the Orioles in exchange for Ramon Hernandez.  Kind of interesting that Turned ended up becoming a pretty big star.  Freel's story is really sad and is something to be discussed another day.

I mailed to Waring on September 22 and got the cards back on December 17, for an 86-day TAT.

TTM Success - Dusty Coleman

I got a few more cards out of my older Bowman box recently when I got these cards signed by Dusty Coleman.  The above 2008 Bowman gold turned out really well.  I don't have many 08 Bowmans in my album, so it was nice to add this one.
He also signed a 2008 Donruss Elite Extra Edition (above left) and a 2008 Razor (above right).  I remember when Razor was a thing, and they had Matt Wieters signed to an exclusive contract.  That's why I have so many 08 Razor cards in the box.  I'm glad I got one signed, and it turned out really well.
Finally, I got this dual 2015 Topps Update signed that I had previously had signed by Rey Navarro.  I think Chris and I saw Navarro at an Independent League game last season.  I may have another of these signed by Navarro, so I probably should see about getting Coleman on it as well.

Coleman (b. 1987) played in the majors in 2015 and 2017 for the Royals and Padres.  He had 15 hits, 4 home runs and a .211 batting average.

I mailed to Coleman on June 8 and got the cards back on June 20, for a 12-day TAT.

Some Recent Chris Davis Pickups

This post will serve two purposes for me.  One, it will catch me up on the Chris Davis cards I got recently via my LCS, COMC, Ebay and the December card show.  The other purpose is that this is a test of my new laptop and printer/scanner.  I finally was able to upgrade both of those devices this weekend and am really happy with the results so far.

The above card was found at my LCS in the dollar bin.  It is a 2008 Topps Heritage High Number rookie card.  It scanned really nicely, if I do say so myself.  I just can't believe this card sat in that dollar bin as long as it did.
Next up is the 2013 Topps Opening Day purple.  I had no idea these existed until a couple months ago when I saw one on Ebay for $20.00.  I'm glad I waited because I found this one for less than $5.  I just hope there aren't Target Red or Wal Mart Blue versions of these.
I found this 2006 Bowman gold Davis in a dime box at the December card show.  I got a bunch of Davis cards at the show, actually.  I know Scott is happy that I am combining all of them into one post, instead of breaking them out to multiple posts.
I liked that I found this 2008 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Davis in another bargain box at the show.
Same with this 2009 Bowman Chrome Refractor.
This 2010 Topps Gold came from a COMC purchase (from September, I think).
Finally, here is a 2013 Bowman Gold Davis that I found at the show in one of the same dime boxes as before.  I feel like I did a really good job getting Davis cards for my PC there.

So, there you have it, you're all caught up for the time being on my Chris Davis PC.
