I got a package in the mail from Weston over at Fantastic Catch the other day. Seemingly, it had a recurring theme of 'rookie cards'. Of course, there were a couple older Topps Tribute cards of Brooks and Frank Robinson (no relation).
The highlight of the package just might be this 2014 Topps blue parallel of Jonathan Schoop. Schoop is lighting things up in spring training and if he doesn't make the team for Opening Day, he will be up soon after.
Schoop is batting .400 over 6 spring training games with 1 homer and 6 RBI. He figures to begin the season at AAA Norfolk, but there is a distinct possibility he could beat out the likes of Jemile Weeks and Ryan Flaherty for the opening day 2nd base job. His chances increase if Manny Machado begins the season on the DL.
I'm not anticipating his making the team, but he definitely is making things very interesting.
Thanks so much for the cards, Weston!
