1955 Topps #189 - Phil Rizzuto

Phil Rizzuto (b. 1917 - d. 2007) played in the majors from 1941-1942, 1946-1956, all for the Yankees. He retired with 1,588 hits, 38 home runs and a .273 batting average. He was the 1950 AL MVP and was a member of 7 World Series Champions (all with the Yankees of course - 1941, 1947, 1949-1953). He was also an All Star 5 times (1942, 1950-1953). He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1994 by the Veterans' Committee. I sincerely doubt that he would be in the Hall if he played for anyone other than the Yankees.
