TTM Success - Jim Dwyer

I had sent to him earlier this year and got nothing back, so I tried Jim Dwyer again.  This time, I got a 1987 Topps signed; the cash in included must have helped.

Dwyer (b. 1950) played in the majors from 1973 to 1990 for the Cardinals, Expos, Mets, Giants, Red Sox, Orioles and Twins.  He had 719 hits, 77 home runs and a .260 batting average.  He won the World Series with the Orioles in 1983.

I mailed to Dwyer on September 18 and got the card back on September 28, for a 10-day TAT.  I paid a fee of $5.00.

TTM Success - Mac Scarce

I got some nice 70s cards in from this TTM success from Mac Scarce.  The above 1975 Topps turned out well, even though the card itself is pretty mis-cut.  Still, it is a cool set and I never have enough of the cards to send out.  I need to get a box lot of some 70s stuff and sort them sometime.

I do have a ton of 1973 Topps, and am not at a shortage of those to send out to former players.  They tend to turn out well, with the white borders and all.

Scarce (b. 1949) played in the majors from 1972 to 1975 and 1978 for the Phillies, Mets and Twins.  He had a record of 6-19 with 164 strike outs and a 3.69 ERA.

I mailed to Scarce on September 20 and got the cards back on September 27, for a 7-day TAT.

TTM Success - Barry Jones

I added another card to my 1987 set with this TTM success from former pitcher, Barry Jones.  I also included the above 1988 Topps that looks really sharp.

Both cards look really nice, and I am glad to be able to knock the 1987 off of my list.

Jones (b. 1963) played in the majors from 1986 to 1993 for the Pirates, White Sox, Expos, Phillies and Mets.  He had a career record of 33-33 with 250 strike outs and a 3.66 ERA. 

I mailed to Jones on September 13 and got the cards back on September 26, for a 13-day TAT.

TTM Success - Jude Drouin

I have gotten almost all of the hockey guys back that I initially sent off when I got my box of vintage hockey from my buddy, Max.  I think I have one more out pending.  I really liked this success from Jude Drouin, because he was kind enough to send the above photo.  I always like it when players include their own stuff in a TTM request.

I also got these hockey cards done.  They were from left to right: 1972-1973 Topps, 1971-1972 Topps and a 1974-1975 Topps that someone wrote on signifying that Drouin had moved on to the Islanders.

Drouin (b. 1948) played from 1968 to 1981 for the Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars, New York Islanders and the Winnipeg Jets.  He had 151 goals, 305 assists for 456 points. 

I mailed to Drouin on August 22 and got the cards back on September 23, for a 32-day TAT.

Some Biloxi 50/50s

I had a few cards left over from the Mudcats last season, so I put out a message on my Instagram to see if anyone could take some of those guys this season.  A guy named Johann was able to take the cards and 50/50 for me.

I had been stuck with some Jake Gatewood cards that I found right before he was moved up from the Mudcats.  I wasn't able to get them signed, so I was glad that Johann agreed to take them.

I also think he missed some time with the Mudcats, as well.  I know I would have tried to get the 2015 Pro Debut (top left) signed pretty early on, so maybe that contributed to my large stash of his cards.

I appreciated Johann getting them all done for me.  All of the cards turned out great.

He had messaged me telling me that he had accidentally damaged a couple Bob Milacki cards when he spilled some water, so Johann, on his own, went on Ebay and replaced a couple for me.  He didn't have to do that, but it was really appreciated.

Finally, one of the cards I had sent was my 1991 Orioles Crown Bob Milacki.  I had picked up the set after last season, then Milacki was moved up to coach at Biloxi, so I missed out on him on this card.  I'm really glad Johann was able to hook me up, and I know we will do more 50/50s next season.

TTM Success - Jim Mason

I received a TTM success from Jim Mason.  I had some older cards that I sent out, and they all came back looking pretty nice.

Mason (b. 1950) played in the majors from 1971 to 1979 for the Senators, Rangers, Yankees, Blue Jays and Expos.  He had 322 hits, 12 home runs and a .203 batting average.  Mason appeared in 3 World Series games for the Yankees in their loss to the Reds in 1976.  He had only one plate appearance, but he made it count, his only World Series hit, a home run and a 1.000 batting average!

Some California League 50/50s

I got a DM on Instagram earlier this season from a guy in California who watched me bust my 2019 Pro Debut boxes on my livestream.  He took a couple cards of a guy in that set, and got a 50/50 done for me.  He, then, offered to get me some cards signed by some of the guys in the California League (mostly), so I sent a bunch of cards his way.

He was only able to get a few of the cards done for me, but it was definitely quality over quantity.  He pushed the above Austin Beck shimmer refractor to the front of the line when I was able to cross JP Martinez off of his want list for his 2019 Pro Debut set.  The Beck turned out great, and I was super excited to get it back signed.

These 4 cards were the only other ones that he was able to get done for me.  I was disappointed, mainly because he had promised to get a Heliot Ramos done for me, but it didn't get signed, and didn't even make it back in the package.  My feelings aren't really hurt by that or anything, because stuff happens, but the thing I dislike the most is spending a ton of time searching for cards, then having to go and put it all back in the box.

Anyway, I'm glad I got what I got.  We'll see if I do another 50/50, or maybe if I do one, it might be on a much smaller scale.
